At least the series moves to NBC now. The first game had 2.3! Big boost from last year, at least.... That's good to see. It's still a sad number, but at least it's higher. The problem though is the the Cup is hardly mentioned anywhere outside of VS. though. Sportscenter devoted about five minutes to it last night, compared to at least doubled that for the NBA Conference Finals now. The Stanley Cup should be the big story right now, especially since two American teams are in, and it's second fiddle right now.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
It really needs to go back to ESPN. This was a pretty good year for hockey (regular season that is), with Ovechkin and the Cap's run, the return of the bully Flyers, Pittsburgh starting to reach their potential, Ottawa's collapse (hey, maybe there'd be some cheering on Canada's best team goin straight to hell), etc. I think with more seasons like this, people would come back.

2.5 mil for Game 2... highest ratings since 2002. It's a shame the games aren't better, but whatever. It's a succesful year for the league, I think.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
If it's going up, it'll be interesting to see what kind of leap it takes over to NBC. Hopefully even more people will tune in, and hopefully the Penguins pick up a win in order to retain an audience outside of the two cities for the next game.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Oh, hey X. Where were you the first 2 games?
Oh, you're not really a fan you say? Interesting.
Thoughts on the game:
Outside of the 3rd Period, the Wings played ABSOLUTELY horrible. They played slow and were missing all of their passes. The first goal was sloppy play. The second was terrible passing. The third was a complete fluke.
Absolutely HORRIBLE play by the Wings.
I fully expect a resounding win by them in Game 4. Just like the Pistons, when they get embarrassed, they will come after you... HARD.

Oh, you're not really a fan you say? Interesting. Huh? Are you trying to be funny or sarcastic? I posted four times during the first two games, including making fun of the Pens' second loss (saying they were getting "better") and stating the obvious by saying the Pens needed to win Game 3.
I don't quite know what the second part means. Not a fan of what? NHL? I am. Pittsburgh? Well, I think it's obvious I've been a Pittsburgh man, long before I joined BOM or KJ.
Seriously... I don't know what you're trying to be there, but whatever. Game 3 goes to the Pens and I am happy.

Yes yes, I've known about her Red Wing love for a while now. I live with it.
At least she's a hockey fan. Red Wings or not, that's pretty hot.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
According to this article, that equals a 2.8 share. Compare that to the national share for the Celtics/Pistons in Game 5 and the numbers are almost doubled.......... in favor of the NBA. The Celtics/Pistons got a 5.3 on ESPN. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgnsIn Detroit though, the Cup is beating the Eastern Conference Finals and rightfully so. If it wasn't that would just go to show you how much better off the NBA is right now. It's 18.2 to 15.9 in favor of the Cup Finals. On the bright side for the NHL though, this is the most watched series since 2002's Red Wings/Hurricanes Cup Finals. That just goes to show you that as long as a team in the southern United States isn't playing, people will watch.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
Unfortunately, thanks to all the games happening at the same time, Pittsburgh is encroaching on Detroit's Hockeytown status. Nearly 1 in 3 households in Pittsburgh were watching game 3. Only about half that were watching in Detroit.

Oh well, after six years of fucking up in the playoffs like they always do, the Red Wings finally pulled it off.

The Penguins will be great... but the Eastern Conference is obviously weaker, so they will always have that going against them.

 Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
That's a little sad since there wasn't another NBA game going up against it. It's not bad, but you'd think more people would've tuned in. You'd figure everyone in Detroit would've been watching now that the Pistons are done. I expect tonight's numbers to be better. As for the game, it didn't take long for Pittsburgh to collapse in the third. The timeout should've come just a little bit before the first goal. This has just been amazing. It would've been nice for this to stretch out another game since it would give me something to watch before the NBA Finals, but unless Pittsburgh comes up with some kind of miracle, it's not looking too good for them. It'd be nice if they could create some kind of shot on goal.
