 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Boston tried so hard to give that game up in the final couple minutes with some horrible turnovers and bad shots, but in the end Cleveland couldn't take advantage of all the gifts given to them.
I think I'm leaning very slightly toward hoping the Celts take the series. Neither team is going to be a cakewalk for the Pistons, but Boston looks very prone to choking. Plus, if there is any team that can win one in Boston, it's Detroit... Detroit generally plays as good or better on the road than they do at home.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
What a game, what a series. I think this was Utah's oppurtunity, with the momentum of the last two games and an injured Kobe... Game 7 will be pretty damn hard. But it'll still be fun if it gets there.
Gasol's a pimp.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I still see absolutely no evidence that ANY team can win a road game (except the Pistons), so I'll agree that these all are going to game 7. It's a bizarre round of the playoffs... the home teams are now an amazing 19-1 in this round - with the one lone loss being a 1 point victory by Detroit in Orlando. Has that ever happened before?

Guaranteed. You were SO close! If NO had *just* one more bucket - a 20 pointer - they would have won the game! I'm not betting against any home team this round at all. They are an insane 19-1 this round, and most of the games aren't even remotely close.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I picked the Celtics in 6 at the beginning of the series and I'm sticking with it tonight, with or without Gibson in the lineup for the Cavs. I had a gut feeling before the injury was made clear that the Celtics would win this game tonight and I'm sticking with them, even though they haven't won a road game yet, the road teams in the playoffs overall have been awful, and seeing as the Cavs still have Lebron.
The Celtics had a great chance to take Game 4, but as I mentioned already in this thread, the substitutions killed them at the start of the fourth quarter. There is a big difference for someone like Glen Davis to start the final quarter of a playoff game at home and on the road. He was clearly more comfortable in the Garden. That saying, maybe he gained a little bit of confidence after this last game? Hopefully he won't be taking anymore jump shots.
As long as they don't get behind early (if it's similar to Game 4 entering the fourth quarter, they're okay, but being ahead is always better), make smart substitutions, and continue to take the ball inside, they can win tonight.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Pavlovic or Devin Brown is going to have to step up and eat up Gibson's minutes. I'm not that worried. West and Wally just need to make their shots, which they seem to do only at home.

If Doc Rivers keeps Sam Cassell's buttocks planted firmly on the bench, then maybe they've got a shot at winning, but after their 0-5 start on the road - including 3 embarrassing losses to Atlanta - combined with Cleveland's very impressive home playoff record, I would not bet on Boston. And, just to correct myself, I just saw over at ESPN the home teams are 20-1 this round and there has been nothing like this before in recent history. So, maybe the road team is due?

It's halfway through the fourth quarter, and the score right now is probably close to what the halftime score will be in the Lakers/Jazz game.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Garnett almost has half of Bostons score.
The first and third quarters they scored the exact same as each other, so far the only difference was the last 5-ish minutes of the 2nd quarter.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I'm sorry but did the refs just decide before the game that under no circumstances would they ever call a foul against Cleveland when Glen Davis is going up for a layup. Seriously the man is getting hammered under the basket and nothing.

Also...
I can't believe Cleveland would choose one more win and a blowout, embarrassing loss in Boston... over just letting Boston win in Cleveland.
Sunday is going to be HILARIOUS.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
The Cavs 22-2 run was obviously the difference in the game, but if there is any question as to why the home team is 22-1 in this series, this game is a clear example of why. You saw this in Game 5 in LA with the Jazz and it happened again tonight. The Celtics were getting absolutely no calls underneath the hoop. None. And that last "charge" on Pierce was absolutely embarassing. Yes, he had his arm in Lebron's stomach, but he did not push. That cost the Celtics a possesion and at least 20 seconds off the clock. I'm not saying Pierce or someone else would've made a basket there, but it cost them a lot of time.
