It did fine OW but unfortunately after that was extremely frontloaded. FF2 didn't have that much buzz really.

Straight cash, homie wrote: i have a funny feeling this aint even the tip of the iceberd as far as merchandise and tie ins go. Just thinking of what very well may happen to the tdk due to heaths death makes me sick. Joker cmerchandise is sure to be huge sellers; the joker posters, toys, you name it put joker on it and it will sell this summer because what happened to heath ledger. dont even talk about the movie; i dont think i could be any more dissappointed in the realization that the film could be absolute record breaking machine. buzz/hype/demand for it could be higher than anything ever before if the marketing goes smoothly due the amount of coverage this is getting it. And while i should be estatic after batman and superman returns less the steller performnces after my years of anticipation...i feel like im going throw up. posted this in january...looks to be coming true..and i do feel slightly sick. http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/91411this is soooooo 1989 esque i dont know ether to scream in joy or cry in sorrow for the reason its happening.

 Re: The Dark Knight Predictions
no it didnt. this film is 3 months away and in the past week has adorned the frontpage of the every website. this is getting a bit absurd, spidey 3 didnt even get this much early attention: http://www.maxim.com/entertainment/newb ... uzz-040808Quote: There he is. The man you've probably heard a fair amount about already. That's his card that says it all. the sarcastic "im sure youve heard of" should not be coming till july. its MAY. Im def. getting carried away in the (huge) early buzz, but i cant fuckin wait for july!

 Re: The Dark Knight Predictions
Ok Im surprised Im saying this but I now firmly believe The Dark Knight will beat Indy and take the summer crown. The buzz this far ahead is amazing and its sad to say but Ledger has already brought alot of attention to the film in the mainstream media and i think that will crechendo once July comes around. It has July basically all to itself (Hancock wont do $200m) and summer weekdays are going to help it. Lukewarm word on Indy so far indicates it probably wont go much further than $320m or so. TDK can do it I think. Im officially hyped up for it!!

But Ledger has brought a macabre feel to it in a way that actually might turn people off, not to mention how Dark Nolan has made it and so far, in a Spring/Summer season where IRONMAN Wow'd audiences with it's "Feel Good" type of feeling, TDK looks to be polar opposite.. Will see..

 Re: The Dark Knight Predictions
you do bring up a point that feel good movies are the blockbusters that generally succeed.
That imo will stop TDK from doing over 320 million...

 Re: The Dark Knight Predictions
tdk will be the new milleniums version of T2. which inflated to 300 milion. add in this is pg 13 in stead of r you get 325+.

 Re: The Dark Knight Predictions
ROTS was the last SW and also it was quite a good film so that helped it go past the 300-320 million celling and Spider man 3 was all hype and then we saw one of the worst box office performances in history after that...(even though it was nowhere near the worst, but it was terrible)

 Re: The Dark Knight Predictions
the only 2 comprisons that fit when it comes to huge hype early on from recent years are rots and matrix reloaded.
