 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
If the West "final 4" is Lakers, Hornets, Suns/Spurs, Jazz... Man, you just can't get any better than that. Any of them can beat each other and win the title, judging by the way the Hornets and Jazz look, as well as the regular season statistics (See Hollinger the resident stathead on ESPN for this, according to him the numbers say it'll be Jazz over Hornets in the WCF), and we know the Lakers and the other two are legit. Amazing.
And holy shit, I thought we were done for the night when Orlando was making us look like little girls in the 1st quarter and going up by 18... Down to 2 at half? Que? If only we played like this from the start. That was also the first quarter Bosh has really looked dominant in his playoff career, actually I think he's already tied his playoff high. Bargnani should sit for the entire rest of the playoffs, I swear, NO MORE IL MAGO PLEASE. Not until you pay the ransom and get your jumpshot back from whoever's holding it hostage.
This will be an intense second half, I'll be biting my nails. If we win this one, we steal homecourt and have a legit shot at the series. And hell, looking at the "what if" scenarios, if we could win this series and Philly could upset Detroit... We would have homecourt in round 2. Schwing! But that's a longshot for now.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Darnit, a couple inches away again, just like game 6 last year and just like Vince's shot to go to the ECF way back when. Going to Bosh both times hasn't really worked out, we should let Calderon take a jumper, he was clutch down the stretch. Though really lost it when we were up by 1 and let Orlando grab not 1 but 2 offensive rebounds and then score. GREAT game though, it was only Game 2 but had the feel of an elimination game, it was more intense than Game 6 last year actually because the crowd was actually into it this time. I'm sure ESPN and TNT are kicking themselves for pushing this aside for Boston demolishing the Hawks or the other uneventful blowout series so far. Next two games are essential, I think we'll win for sure in Game 3, and then after that Game 4 is huge. Just no more Bargnani and Moon to open the 3rd quarter please.

Wow, all 5 of the series so far are 2-0... you can bet your house on Boston winning again, and the Lakers are extremely likely, so that's 6/8 for sure and probably 7/8. Odds are at least one or two teams will come back and make it a series, I just hope it's my team. Or the Suns, I'd like to see that.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Yeah, the Suns, Raptors and Mavericks are the only one's who are down right now (not including the Pistons because they're the Pistons) and have a chance to come back and do anything. The Raptors made it close tonight and I think that'll carry over into Game 3, but I think the Magic are going to win one up in Toronto. The games will be close though so maybe the Raptors can get them both.
As for the Mavericks I think they'll turn it on when they get home. I don't really have a reason as to why I think this will happen since the Mavs aren't the most reliable team in the playoffs, but I think like Magnus said they'll be a slight desperation mode. Plus they have their fans so that should give them an extra boost.
The Suns on the other hand had to win one in San Antonio. I think they'll win one at home, but I think the Spurs are just too good to walk out of Phoenix without grabbing a win. The Suns might get one back in San Antonio and stretch the series out to six, but I don't think so. Maybe if they get a benefit of a couple of calls here and there they might get both games at home.
The Rockets, Wizards and Hawks are simply fucked though. I don't see the first two getting back in the series just simply because the teams they are facing are simply more talented. By himself Lebron is more coordinated than the starting roster of the Wizards and that's enough to get the Cavs through this round. As for the Rockets, the Jazz just seem to be the more talented team at this point. You can't lose two playoff games in a row at home and expect to win the series. The Jazz will win a sweep. And without trying to sound too biased, the Hawks aren't winning tomorrow night. And with a shitload of Celtics fans going to Atlanta, they're going to be absolutely deflated come Game 3. That's unless Mike Bibby backs up his unbelieveably dumb statements (it's very smart to call the fans of the team you're playing against while you're in that town no less, fairweather fans) and comes up big against the Celtics. Even if he does, I still see the Celtics winning by ten.
The Pistons are fine though as long as they win tomorrow night. I'll be shocked if they don't.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I caught the 4th quarter of the Raptors/Magic game.... it was a good one. Too bad the Raptors didn't win though... I'm rooting for it to go 7 games.
I'm amazed we have this many 2-0 games. I was expecting a much more competitive first round. Hopefully this isn't a bad sign for the Pistons tomorrow.
So far my only bad pick is looking to be Washington over Cleveland.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
That's the Pistons team I know and love! If they keep their focus like that, then I think my "win in 5 games" prediction is still safe. As for Atlanta... if I were coaching, I think I'd have my 12th man go in and hit Garnett, Allen, and Pierce in the knee cap with a ballbat. It's their only chance.

Boston would still win with their defense and Rondo running the show.

Watched the Lakers Game and with them up by about 5 a couple of questionable ref calls changed the game from a close 5 point game to a 10 + blow-out.

The game was very close I thought until the last five minutes of the 3rd quarter. I honestly think Denver has what it takes to win two games at home. Don't think they will win both games (see them winning one), but I think aren't too much of underdogs to win these next two home games. Pistons are back to being Pistons. They're fine. Boston is Boston. Though if I were them, I would be really scared the way King James is playing. so you watched the Lakers - as I am not a big NBA watched - Kobe was on fire hitting from every angle/position on the court. Wow.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
That was SWEET. I've never heard the ACC like that, it was like Golden State last year or Utah. The Ole Ole Ole chanting and Bosh's Greek pose (lol) at the end gave me chills. I think we have a very good chance at tieing it up next game, the Magic looked lost in front of that crowd. Game 2 looks so pivotal now... if not for that, Orlando would have to win against that red blitz just to avoid going down 3-1. If only we grabbed that damn rebound! I think we have a chance in this series though. And Washington won by 36. The Wizards ARE better without Arenas, I'm convinced now. Cleveland has been god awful on the road since the trade, I have a feeling that one could end up 2-2 as well. 2-0 for the home team is kind of a misleading number in the playoffs, things can get close quickly.

What a win. Regardless how the series finishes (Utah still certainly has the upper hand), I'm proud of them.

David Stern is at the Pistons game.
What an ass.
He won't show his face in Phoenix, he'd get stoned.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Someone's gonna let the Pistons know that the playoffs have begun, right? There's still some time left in this game (0 for their last 15 in FG attempts doesn't help), but down 2-1 in Philly.......
It just gives the 76ers confidence that they can beat the Pistons. And if that happens I will laugh. I don't expect it to happen, but I would laugh.

It's been all about home court so far. The only exception is Jazz/Rockets, which everyone thought was gonna be the most home-court based series in the first round. Weird how that works sometimes.
