Playing defending champion with the home court or playing the team you already beat last year without home court while they were in full strength. I mean it's debatable, and if they're No. 3, they could avoid Lakers at round 2 (and a better shot at having the home court again since Dallas has a better chance of upsetting than Denver), so there are pros and cons either way.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
haven't watched alot of BB but I didn't think the Lakers were suppose to be this good - and they won the division.
Maybe Kobe and also the trade that they made were too good.....

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Just wanted to post the Bill Simmons 450-48 MVP ranking... it's gold http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/080415My favorite Quote: 228. Bobby Jones It wasn't just that Bobby broke the record by playing for five teams in the same season. He spent the first two months playing for the craziest team in the league (Denver). Then he spent January with the Grizzlies, probably exchanged at least one high-five with Darko Milicic and got waived when they gave Gasol away. Then he spent two games on the Rockets during their 22-game winning streak. In March, he headed over to Miami for six games to take part in Tankapalooza 2008 on the worst professional basketball team ever assembled. Then he had a cup of coffee in April with the Spurs before heading back to the Nuggets for the rest of the season and the playoffs. No player has been inadvertently involved in more memorable story lines for one season than Bobby Jones -- if he had been in the passenger's seat during Carmelo's alleged DUI, that really would have pushed it over the top. what a year for that guy

Ha! That was a good read, Shack. And holy hell... he linked to a Stephon Marbury interview. That dude is more whacked out than I thought, and I thought he was pretty whack beforehand.

Chris Paul should rightfully get the MVP for this season. Assist leader and led his team to winning the hardest divison in the league. NOBODY IN THE WORLD SAW IT COMING! cept him of course.

Jeez I think we were trying to lose this game... Graham Hump Brezec for the entire 4th. I think that's the worst NBA frontcourt I've ever seen. It would've been nice to be 42-40 instead of 41-41, but whatever.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Took till the last day to confirm anything, but the West is set now
1 LA Lakers vs 8 Denver Nuggets 2 New Orleans Hornets vs 7 Dallas Mavericks 3 San Antonio Spurs vs 6 Phoenix Suns (hooooooly shit) 4 Utah vs 5 Houston
The middle two match-ups should be awesome. Utah and Houston could probably be close but for some reason I'm not *that* pumped as much as I would be about say Utah vs New Orleans, but anyways. That probably means it'll be the best series. LA should take care of Denver, I think.

Here's the bracketThe Suns have, by far, the hardest road to the Finals. They have to beat San Antonio, and then New Orleans/Dallas, and then probably the Lakers. Ugh.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I'll go with
Lakers in 5 Mavs in 7 (this one is really hard to call though) Suns in 7 Utah in 6 (This series is "who can win on the road first?")
Boston in 4 Detroit in 5 Magic in 6 Washington in 7 (unintentional, I swear!)

This is probably the most excited I've ever been for the playoffs. It's just a shame that Suns/Spurs series has to be in the first round.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
At least the Lakers and Suns are set up for the WCF if they get that far, though. That would be amazing. That series and a finals with Boston against either after it would make the NBA big again.

As much as I think it may happen, the Spurs going back to the finals would be bad for the league.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Final predictions
EAST Boston over Atlanta in 4 Detroit over Philly in 5 Magic over Toronto in 5 Cavs over Wizards in 6
WEST Lakers over Nuggets in 4 Mavs over Hornets in 7 Spurs over Suns in 6 Houston over Utah in 7
I'm really torn over the Hou/Utah series, but despite all of Houston's problems (no Yao, never winning a playoff series in years), the fact that Houston has homecourt advantage makes me believe they'll beat the Jazz, who suck on the road. The Mavs and Hornets is the only other toughie... the rest seem pretty obvious on paper.
Ultimately I'm hoping for a Pistons vs. Celtics ECF and a Lakers vs. Suns WCF, with the Pistons meeting either of those in the finals.... but, I'd probably lean toward wanting the Lakers. A good old fashioned Detroit vs. LA series would be fine by me!

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I don't see anyway that Celtics/Hawks series isn't only a sweep, but the Celts win by about 15-20 points every game. The Hawks have got to be one of the worst playoff teams of all time.
I think a Lakers/Suns WCF and a Pistons/Celtics ECF would be a dream come true for the NBA. No matter who wins, it'd be an epic finals.

I would guess that the league would have to lean toward wanting a Boston vs. LA series... I doubt any of the other combos would create as good of ratings as that. But, I think the league will be happy as long as it isn't Spurs vs. Anybody. How about Spurs vs. Orlando? I doubt that I'd even watch that one.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I'll take it the whole way, too..
Round 1 WEST Lakers in 5 Mavs in 6 Spurs in 7 Rockets in 7
EAST Celtics in 4 Pistons in 5 Magic in 6 Cavs in 7
Round 2 WEST Lakers over Rockets in 5 Spurs over Mavs in 5
EAST Celtics over Cavs in 6 Pistons over Magic in 5
Conference Finals WEST Lakers over Spurs in 7
EAST Celtics over Pistons in 6
NBA Finals Celtics over Lakers in 7
So yeah, I don't really see any of the rounds living up to the first, except maybe the finals.
