Giants won. Two runners over 130 yards, 2 defensive TDs. Play-off secure. Thanks for nothing Eli

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
Rev wrote:  how many unsportsmanlike conduct are you allowed before getting ejected from the game? JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp was ejected from Sunday's 49-11 loss to the Jaguars after receiving three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Sapp received all three of the penalties in a strange series of events that started when Jacksonville right tackle Tony Pashos was flagged for illegal use of hands to the face. Officials said the Raiders declined the penalty, and the Jaguars lined up for a 43-yard field goal attempt with 21 seconds to play in the first half. Officials then said Oakland would accept the penalty, making it third-and-20 from the Raiders 35-yard line. Jacksonville's offense went back on the field, but a few seconds later, the officials called the first unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Sapp. That gave the Jaguars an automatic first down, and Sapp started jawing at officials. Sapp and defensive end Derrick Burgess were both flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties during the arguments. Sapp kept talking, and he got a third one that also came with an ejection. Teammates had to restrain Sapp, and an assistant coach escorted him off the field. The penalties gave the Jaguars a first-and-goal at the 2, but David Garrard's pass at the goal line was intercepted by Kirk Morrison and returned 36 yards.

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
Brady can't throw an interception if he tries I think it'll be good for the Pats to have another "we're in a different league than you" game. Will get their confidence back up.

They've also had a relatively easy schedule with four tough games (2 vs Indy, Tampa and Pittsburgh). They're 2-2. They're good, but not quite on the same level yet.

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
Jacksonville also played an awful Oakland team so really you can't make that argument. Also New England just didn't seem to care in that second half and seemed more worried to make sure nobody got hurt.

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
Jacksonville, who has one of the best rushing attacks in the league, ran through one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.
New England played 30 minutes, and scored 28 points, and shut out the Dolphins.
The last 30 minutes was mainly just "rest" for them.

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
Since my playoff projections ALREADY are wrong...
AFC: 1. New England 2. Indianapolis 3. Pittsburgh 4. San Diego 5. Jacksonville 6. Cleveland
NFC: 1. Dallas 2. Green Bay 3. Seattle 4. Tampa Bay 5. Giants 6. Washington
First Round: Cleveland over Pittsburgh Jacksonville over San Diego Washington over Seattle Tampa Bay over Giants
Second Round: New England over Cleveland Indianapolis over Jacksonville Dallas over Washington Green Bay over Tampa Bay
Third Round: New England over Indianapolis Green Bay over Dallas
Super Bowl: New England over Green Bay
So everything is setting up like we thought halfway through the season.

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
Tennessee (9-6) The Titans are in the driver's seat for the final AFC spot, but they'll need to beat the defending Super Bowl champs. Final game: at Colts.
Washington (8-7) The Redskins stepped up in Sunday night's key game to deny the Vikes a playoff spot and climb into the driver's seat for the final NFC berth. Will they become the third NFC East team in the playoffs? Final game: vs. Cowboys.
Cleveland (9-6) The Browns blew their chance to clinch by losing to the Bengals and now must have help from the Colts to make the playoffs. Final game: vs. 49ers.
Minnesota (8-7) The Vikings could've clinched by beating the Redskins. Instead, to have any shot, they must hope the Redskins lose next week. Final game: at Broncos. New Orleans (8-6) It's a three-step process for the Saints. They must beat Chicago and hope the Redskins and Vikings lose. Final game: at Bears.

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
The NFC is so fucking boring. Whoever winds up in the last spot is going to get knocked out immediately in the first round, while in the AFC the wildcard actually has a shot to do something (Browns moreso than Titans). Granted either won't get past the Colts or Patriots (I forget how it matches up), but the Steelers are very vulnerable.

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
For those of you who were wondering whether or not you could see the Patriots/Giants game this weekend because you don't have NFL network, fear not. You now have the choice of three (or four depending on if you're in Boston or NY) channels. Quote: Patriots' historic game to be available to all of America, after all By RACHEL COHEN, AP Sports Writer December 26, 2007
NEW YORK (AP) -- After weeks of insisting they wouldn't cave in, NFL officials did just that Wednesday. Now all of America can see the Patriots' shot at history.
Saturday night's game between New England and the New York Giants on the NFL Network, which is available in fewer than 40 percent of the nation's homes with TVs, will be simulcast on CBS and NBC. The Patriots could become the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season.
"We have taken this extraordinary step because it is in the best interest of our fans," commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement after the league announced it was reversing course. "What we have seen for the past year is a very strong consumer demand for NFL Network. We appreciate CBS and NBC delivering the NFL Network telecast on Saturday night to the broad audience that deserves to see this potentially historic game. Our commitment to the NFL Network is stronger than ever." First time this has ever happened. Edit: Second time it's happened. Super Bowl I was also simulcast though I don't believe on as many networks. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=a ... &type=lgns

 Re: 2007 NFL Discussion
This probably wouldn't have happened if they weren't going for 16-0, not that it affected me anyway but I'm glad to see the NFL network taken down a peg.

Umm... Bar owners are PISSED about this. They all ordered NFL Network and were expecting HUGE crowds on Saturday... and now... they're stuck with a regular night.
