Well, since the Patriots score 35 points a half, they don't feel comfortable being up by only 28 in the 2nd half. Just imagine if they kicked a field goal, and then all of the sudden the Bills scored 35 points in the 2nd half!

Then everyone would wonder why they didn't go for it.

Yeah, I actually agree with Chip. Going for it on 4th and 1 rather than kicking a field goal is not running up the score. If Buffalo doesn't want to be embarrassed, then they should stop them from scoring 8 touchdowns.

Granted, they're not the shalackings the Patriots are putting on some teams, but the Colts were about the best it got when it came to similar situations.

And if you were paying attention to the game at all, Bill Bellichick has an enormous amount of respect for Dick Juaron. He wouldn't run up the score on him. He hasn't run up the score on anybody. Is the offense just supposed to stop playing because they feel bad for the other team?

If I were in the coaches position, with this much talent on a team, my
philosophy would be this.

Play our game for 3 quarters. If we are up by 28 points or more at that point,
starters get the 4th quarter off, unless it's a rivalry game, then we pound them
and make them fear us the next time we play.

My little league baseball team many years ago once won a game 34 - 0.
We weren't running up the score, we were just playing to our ability against
an inferior team. You don't stop playing because the other team can't stop
you. I have no problem with how the Patriots are playing.
