I don't even understand why we follow AP polls. They have no weight in the BCS.
And the coaches poll is even worse, because USC is like... 7th.

Re: KJ College Football Power Rankings
By your logic, makeshift, why do you have Florida out of the top ten when their only losses are to the same team that beat them when they won the championship last year as well as to the unanimous #1 team in the country in a miracle fourth quarter?
Florida easily beat your #3 ranked Ohio Sate last year. And they can just as easily beat Oregon & Cal, (which as a Cal alumni, I find their #2 ranking in the nation to be more ridiculous than any other ranking). It's because of Pac-10 teams like Cal and Oregon being ranked too high that they feel obligated to keep USC in the top ten.

Re: KJ College Football Power Rankings
USC losing Stanford is a fluke, and I'm not going to use head-to-head unless the records and other stats over the season are in the same ballpark for the two teams. That being said, USC has to be punished for even letting Stanford hanging around, let alone losing, and at home!
My ranking: 1. LSU 2. Cal (the wins over Tennessee and Oregon are looking more impressive with the way Tennessee beat Georgia and how Michigan's performing lately) 3. Ohio State (that's one tough defense, although not against elite opponent yet) 4. South Florida (the two quality wins are as good as any, and a close game on the road in conference could be expected) 5. Oregon (the only loss is to Cal on a fluke play and impressive on all other wins) 6. South Carolina (only loss is 12 points at LSU) 7. Missouri (the opening Illinois win is looking better and better, and gave Nebraska a real beatdown, more than USC did) 8. West Virginia (the only loss is to South Florida by 8 on the road) 9. Oklahoma (better resume than my No. 10 even with a loss to an unranked team and I'd take them over an ACC team any day with their talents) 10. Boston College (The Georgia Tech win is looking less impressive; will have their chance in two weeks)

It literally pains me to have Boston College so high. I fully expect them to lose at least two of their remaining games, and possibly as many as four.

I fully expect South Florida to lose on Thursday.
So I'm letting them have their moment.

So I'm letting them have their moment. Agreed. Still, they do have the strongest resume of any no loss team right now. A win over a top ten team (West Virginia) where the final score wasn't indicative of how dominate they were, and a win over an Auburn team that would be a top ten team had they not lost to Mississippi State.

In the Big East, as proven last year, when you play at home against a good/ranked team... you pretty much are almost guaranteed the upset win.

Re: KJ College Football Power Rankings
So assuming that the top 3 big 12 teams win today, we'll have 3 big 12 teams in the top 5 and a solid gold lock that one of them will play for the national title. It's amazing. I hope Kansas does it simply due to Mangino getting his due and getting a perfect season would be the best story out there.
If Missouri made it that would be nice and would probably make the Heisman race extremely close but I'm not that excited about MO in a national title game.
If Oklahoma makes it I'd be happy and hopefully they can pound LSU into the dirt this time even though they have to go on the road AGAIN to beat them.

Looks like Illinois will meet up with Florida in a bowl game...
I'd take Illinois in a heartbeat.

After watching, with a an ever increasing headache, the OU debacle going on as I type this one can't even expect them to even have a chance at beating MO or KS. The other teams are simply better and in terms of KS extremely better. OU has sucked when playing true road games (Tulsa doesn't count) and they simply cannot stop the pass. It's unbelievable to me how poorly the pass defense has become. Bradford going down doesn't help things but hey, OR suffered a similar situation on Thursday so what can one do. As to your question, IF oklahoma even makes it to the big 12 title game and some how wins then WV should still have enough point differential to stay ahead of Ohio St.

Munkatouille wrote: Oklahoma gets screwed out of another call! The problem with the call in question was Johnson put doubt over the whole play by not maintaining control throughout and letting the TTch player have it as they hit the ground. I think it probably should have been a TD, but whatever. The QB was overthrowing balls in the red zone way too much.
