Ugh somebody please slap this man

In other news Wurz retires and will be replaced by Nakajima for the Brazilian GP. Sort of expected, Wurz was a decent driver but never top drawer at least he bows out gracefully.

I dont think anyone bar the Spaniards like Alonso now. I cant stand him.

Rumour in the German papers is that the Mercedes board has dumped Alonso for 08.

Looks more and more certain he will slink his way back to Renault where he will be given preferential treatment again.

Nakajima, what an idiot. Hit his crew mate when entering box.

Kubica overtakes Alonso for third place. At this moment, Raikonnen is a champ. :/

38 laps to go.

can someone tell me what exactly happened with Hamilton. I'm watching this damn thing in Mandirin and people are more interested in covering Coulthart more than Hamilton.

oh and if someone knows of an English Sopcast i can view ... gracias

First he lost couple of places at start, being overtaken by both Raikonnen and Alonso...and then close to start he (still unexplained - or explained, and I missed it) just flat out slowed down, thought he's out for sure. But there he comes again...

Some more links...

Think they are all on Chinese though.

Coverage we're getting here also isn't anything great...following now Ferrari's which are way ahead of anyone...follow Hamilton, asses! 8th place for him. Have to be atleast 5th to be a champ. That is, if Raikonnen wins (Massa will let him overtake him, pretty sure of that), and Alonso stays on 4th (even third place is fine).

Btw, at this exact moment, all three have 108 points.

EDIT: Alonso just got to third place, so he's on 109.

let me tell you how horrible this coverage is. they've shown so many cars make mistakes without showing a follow up, or how it happened, you'd imagine that every car had crashed out so far.

and since hamilton hit the points, they haven't shown the scorecard.

Fucking Ferrari's. Kept the image of fair play when Raikonnen overtook Massa thru the boxes. :/

Kimmi 110 1st
Alonso 108 4th
Hamilton 108 8th

Finally gets the championship he so richly deserves (after 2003 and 2005) and to do it from behind with a win and also the most race wins of any driver this year - all that while having 2 mechanical DNF's to his Mclaren rivals 0 mechanical DNFs! Amazing!!

Great News!!

http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3 ... 85,00.html

Quote:
McLaren have confirmed that Fernando Alonso has left the team by mutual consent with immediate effect.

Whilst the divorce was expected, its confirmation remains shocking in the sense that the marriage should have been a match made in heaven. Instead, Alonso's solitary season will be remembered only for acrimony and the nightmare spectre of the Stepneygate scandal that resulted in the team's expulsion from the Constructors' Championship due to the indiscretions of Alonso's email exchange with test driver Pedro de la Rosa.

Alonso's disgruntlement centred on his belief that the team favoured Lewis Hamilton throughout the British's driver rookie year. Having allegedly blackmailed Dennis to install him as the team's number one driver, Alonso's departure ironically effectively confers that status on Hamilton instead.

Hamilton can thus be regarded as the only winner in the split. McLaren have lost a driver who, despite the distraction of the interminable internal bickering, came within two points of winning a third successive World Championship. As for Alonso, with his route into Ferrari blocked by Felipe Massa's recent contract extension, his next move is bound to be a backwards step.

The Spaniard has won few friends over the past twelve months but, after months of denouncements and accusations, Alonso was noticeably contrite and dignified in his farewell to the team.

Wishing the entire team "the best for the future", he admitted: "I know there have been suggestions of favouritism within the team and people say a lot of things in the heat of battle, but in the end I was always provided with an equal opportunity to win."

While no doubt partially relieved to have parted company with Alonso, the tone of Dennis' commentary was of disappointment and puzzlement that the alliance of Alonso and McLaren had so spectacularly failed to dovetail.

"He is a great driver but for some reason the combination of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and Fernando has not really worked out, and in the end we reached a stage where none of us could find a way to move forward. We all believe that our joint decision to part company is for the best, and we will now continue to focus on our 2008 World Championship challenge."

There was no indication from the team on who will replace Alonso as Lewis Hamilton's team-mate next season, but Nico Rosberg, Heikki Kovalkanien and Jenson Button are bound to be considered as the leading contenders.
