 Portland is cursed
The only professional team in Oregon. The only professional team I've ever had a true connection with my whole life, and they're freakin' cursed. They go and have the worst season in franchise history, and their reward is to lose (not a shock, really) the lottery and end up with the fourth pick so they can likely end up with an insanely emo diabetic that can't play defense.
Over the past couple of years, it seems like it's been our job to develop amazing talent, and then send them away to win their championships and make the playoffs.
Rasheed Wallace
Bonzi Wells
Jermaine O'Neal
Come back to us.

*cough*
You think Portland is cursed? Try Cleveland.
I don't think Cleveland, in any sport, has won since like the 60s.

I was watching NBA TV a couple days ago and they were showing game 7 of the 2000 WCF between Portland and LA Lakers. I was interested as Rasheed Wallace was playing for Portland. Anyhow, Portland was up by 15 in the 4th quarter. Now, I didn't remember Portland being in the finals, and I was thinking I must have missed something because there was no way in hell Portland could blow a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter of a game 7. Portland then went on to miss 14 of its next 15 shots (or something close to that) and lost the game by 6 (or so) points. It was one of the worst collapses I'd ever seen, and it wasn't like they played bad... every shot looked good, but just kept hitting an invisible barrier on the rim and bouncing out.
So, I have to agree... Portland is cursed. As for Cleveland, they aren't cursed... they just suck.

This seems like a pretty weak draft, and even there are rumours that Toronto might trade down thier draft pick. Though doubt it, seems that Bosh wants to play with his 'buddy', Aldridge.

Jailblazers late 90's/early 2000's had the best talent in the NBA. Too bad they smoked weed...

They also had some of the best talent in the early 90's when Clyde "the Glyde" Drexler took them to the Finals twice (they got thumped by the Bad Boys of Detroit in 1990! )! No word on if they smoked weed then, but perhaps that is the secret to getting to the finals?
Anyhow, I hardly feel sorry for the Trailblazers... they've had some good teams the past 15 years and have been to the finals twice and the WCF a few times.

Hmmm
You're in Bill Gates's bedroom. Bill gates and Paul Allen are hardly on speaking terms.
I smell a conspiracy!

I have nothing against Portland and Seattle, but I'll laugh my fucking ass off if that happens.

 Re: Portland is cursed
So we get first draft pick only to find out that Oden's knee will keep him out of his rookie year. We're fucking cursed.
And yeah, that game seven was one of the most painful moments in our cities history. The next day my PE teacher gave us a speech about how bad we fucked up, then had us had our entire class mourn. No lie.

or Oden/Durant break their legs We seriously need a Simpson's collar pull smiley. If only for things like this. Man, this is an old thread. I was worried about us ending up with Adam Morrison in the draft two years ago. At least we did pretty well there, with Roy and Aldridge.

 Re: Portland is cursed
Greg Oden was at a PSU party at a mexican club two blocks from my house about a week ago. Good to see he's really focused on coming out strong next year.

 Re: Portland is cursed
The Northwest teams sucking probably explains why I don't care at all about the NBA. I could really care less that the Sonics are going to be moved out of Seattle. Hell, I don't really think anyone cares. March 31, 2008 (first Mariner game of the new season) can't get here quickly enough. Then I'll have some sports topic to talk about again.
