The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
Reviews are out and they are terrific! I'm so glad this went to HBO instead of Netflix, Amazon, etc... They don't mess around with their IP.
I bet this gets massive ratings on Sunday too. Can't wait!

Re: The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
I am wondering how they will pace the show. Will it just be two seasons, each covering both games? Or will they stretch it out, adding new stories and exploring other characters since the games never really leave the point of view of Joel and Ellie. I bet Season 1 ends about 3/4 through the first game, with Ellie being kidnapped by David. They could go with a cliffhanger ending or a triumphant victory for the heroes. But the ending of the first Last of Us game is the most famous part, and they may not want to wait with HBO being so cancel-happy lately.

Re: The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
From a business decision the best move would be 2 seasons per game, and then that buys enough time for game #3 and get another 2 seasons out of it. But I could also see them just doing 2 seasons.

The part after the flash forward wasn't as good as the beginning, i found the Fedra/Fireflies stuff confusing/ uninteresting.

I've never played the game so this world is all new to me and I'm loving it. The acting, the drama, the suspense, the creature affect, the cinematography ....EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! Wish I could binge it all

Re: The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
Renewed for season 2, no surprise.
What was kind of surprising is the Naughty Dog interview from yesterday, where they were being very wishy washy about whether they would make Last of Us 3 (after confirming that they will not make Uncharted 5.) I'm sure they'll do it eventually, but if Part 3 hasn't even started development then it won't be out until 2027/2028 at the earliest (PS6!) Will be interesting to see how the show paces itself with that in mind. I think the first two episodes have covered enough ground for the first season to make it through the whole first game if they wanted.

Re: The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
This is the two years in between TV seasons era so getting to 2027 or 2028 might not be as hard as it seems, kind of hard to expect them to plan for it though.

Nice gay romance but felt like a completely different show lol.
Also weird way for them to meet. What are the odds you trap another gay guy in your pit lol

Re: The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
The show was better in the 3rd episode without having to mimic the game as much as they do for Joel and Ellie. Ellie is annoying.

Re: The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
Well none of that was in the game. I get what they were trying to do, showing how at least one person lived a fuller life because of the apocalypse. Finding the light in the darkness and all that. I just thought it was too early in the series for a mini-movie with characters who didn't really matter. I guess this is how they will stretch things out though. In the game, Bill is still alive when they get there and is back to his bitter old self. I don't think he ever comes back though, so I guess it was fine to kill him off too.

Re: The Last of Us (HBO) - Season 1
They shouldn't have killed Bill, IMO, because it makes this whole episode feel completely unrelated to have him only appear here once and only interact with the main characters in one short scene
