Finished season 1 and wow what a ride! There are definitely a million different pieces of media out there asking Spoiler: show so Invincible can feel a little been there/done that at first. But damn if they don't keep throwing surprises at you to always keep things fresh. Also, the world building and side characters are top notch too. So while it is definitely hanging out in the same clubs as The Boys, it still manages to set itself a apart. Two very different versions of the same story ala Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Amazon has found their calling when it comes to TV. |

Reading the comic now and while I like it, I feel like the show does a much better job with the side characters. For instance, there’s a scene when Atom Eve, Invincible’s friend/potential lover, flies to his window and sees him macking with another gal. So she gets a tear in her eye and flies off all jealous. An understandable reaction, but in the show version of this scene she adds a “Good for you, Mark” as she leaves. She was happy for her friend even though it didn’t result in what she wanted. One simple line change but it makes Eve feel like a real person instead of just a love interest. |
