8. "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" (R, NBC) 5.5/8 I know this is a rerun, but didn't this series start out strong in the ratings? Also, am I not remembering correctly, or did I read somewhere that it was cancelled? |

The ratings seem to be slipping for Lost, don't they? I think the showing is losing some of its novelty for some reason. I've not watched the last few episodes, but I wouldn't be surprised if this show didn't last more then three or four seasons. |

I think it seems less due to these being different ratings to what we are used to seeing... |

P.S "Alias" has perked up consdierably in the 18-49 ratings, almost beating 24's total 18-49s. |

I'm not sure if that's Lost's highest ratings ever...but top 3 at least. The premiere didn't air against American Idol. |

"Fast National" ratings are always lower than what you guys usually get from Libs etc... |

Not only are they lower than overnight ratings, but you can't forget the fact that Lost went up against Idol. I think it performed wonderfully considering that. |

Yeah guys, it faced what's some of the biggest competition of the year. That and the show is definitely of serial nature, the type of thing you have to watch the whole way through. I know about twice as many people that plan on watching Lost over the summer/ on DVD to catch up to the second season rather then ones who are actually watching it. Once you miss about three episodes, it's hard to want to come back for fear of what may have happened in between. |

Ah, I honestly still don't think it is going to last more then 3 or 4 seasons. Just a prediction is all. But definately good that the ratings aren't slipping as I thought as it really is a well made show. |

See, I actually hope they don't have it got much over that though, unless they can find a way of keeping the material truly fresh. If they can come up with a new way of having an entirely new plot point and direction for the characters to go, something that isn't just finding out the mysteries of the island, alright. But otherwise, they'll really need to have some sort of genius idea to get it over eight seasons. Personally, I think five or six would be perfect, stop it while it's at it's prime. |

I just hope that Lost doesn't suffer the same as, say, Twin Peaks. |

Lost will be over when the creators want it to be over, even if it gets like 3 million viewers. I'm just worried that its production budget will have to be lowered. Its CGI is pretty crappy as it is now. |

I never even noticed the explosion was CGI, so that was really good. I'm talking about the smoke that was near the characters. It looked really cartoony. The smoke over the island was fine, I actually thought it was real. |

Quote: "Lost," which answered a couple of questions about the plane-crash survivors but left others wide open, averaged 20.7 million viewers and a very healthy 7.8 rating in the key ad sales demographic of adults 18-49. That's the series' third-best performance in both measures, behind only two January episodes that followed a monthlong hiatus for the holiday season. Quote: Somewhat surprisingly, the finale also delivered the show's best-ever rating (5.4) among teenagers, who make up a huge portion of the "Idol" audience as well. both from from zap it. I think Lost could have always been higher than it was in the ratings if not for the starts and stops. having several weeks of repeats mixed in between new shows, especially a continuing drama like Lost had to hurt the ratings. Hopefully they will correct this next year. They would be smarter to just run with 24 straight weeks like 24. |

Well. The ratings are in [rounded] 1. American Idol 31m 2. Lost 21m 3. Alias 11m Not great for the finale of Alias since the final few episodes of this season have been called the "best in Alias history" according to lots of US fans. However, 11m finale is still WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY up on last years ratings. |

But still way behind the Clay-Ruben ender. |
