A prequel to the ultimate in ditsy blonde movies is hitting ABC family; i really loved Romy and Michelle and it was a guilty pleasure me and my sister found at my aunts home. http://abcfamily.go.com/romyandmichele/ ... ele_HI.mov Looks like dumb fun but i mean the casting is really what elevated the actual movie so i hope they dont slaughter it for this one.... |

I liked the movie, but that had a lot to do with the girls playing them. Not sure if it would be something I would tune into every week unless it was insanely funny. |

I don't know if I would tune in period for a TV movie. Better? |

ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION is my favorite comedy of all time! It's a blast! It's funny and clever and very quotable. It has a great 80's soundtrack and two very fun and seriously excellent performances by Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow. I love Katherine Heigl, especially now on GREY'S ANATOMY, but being such a huge fan of the first one I find myself a little upset about this. I'd love a ROMY & MICHELE sequel, but not some TV movie prequel/sequel with two different actors. The previews to this actually bug me because this isn't my Romy and Michele! They don't sound the same at all, especially Romy! She had a voice that was a little huskier, but really cool, and Katherine Heigl doesn't sound at all like that in the previews. And the other girl doesn't sound like Michele! We can't have two other people playing Romy and Michele! Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow were born to play these roles, and they were perfect! I can't bear to see two different people take over for them, especially when they aren't very similar! You can try to make them similar all you want, but it won't be the same! I think this will probably be entertaining enough, but at the same time it seems a little too cheesy and lame. And Romy and Michele are not meant to be really toned down and censored to appeal to the ABC Family set. ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION was Rated "R." The content really wasn't THAT bad, but bad enough for an "R" rating and bad enough so that a really clean TV prequel/sequel won't work well. I like my Romy and Michele uncensored. They swore some, which obviously they won't be doing here. This is like a PG version of Romy & Michele. I would love to see a sequel to the original someday (unless it was going to be a bad one, because then I'd rather not see one - but if they could actually do a kickass sequel with the same tone as the first and of course the same actresses playing Romy and Michele, I'd be highly anticipating it), one that would get a theatrical release, but the fact that this sure-to-be-kinda-cheesy made-for-TV movie exists, it's a little less likely to ever happen because there's already going to be a "sequel," and it will be one that was made-for-TV, so it would seem like too much of a joke for them to bother making a sequel with a theatrical release. Sure, I know a sequel was very unlikely anyway, but I could dream that it was possible, and it sure wouldn't have been hard to make a sequel to the movie. I'll watch this, but part of me cringes because they are making a mockery of my girls! |
