is that a season high? unless the quality of the show plummets next season, bye bye CSI as number one show! =D>

I've heard quite a few people saying Desperate will top CSI next season. But I don't understand why!
CSI still averaged at least 2-3 million more viewers than Desperate for the season and CSI's finale rating was a tad higher than Desperate Housewife's. Unless just in the 18-49demo. Otherwise, I think CSI will still have the upper-hand in viewers.

I wonder how big the American Idol finale will be and LOST's as well. If American Idol was playing opposite the LOST finale, LOST could have also scored a series high, probably up to 20-21 million!

I think this is such a high note, that ABC should just make this the series finale of Desperate Housewives. You know, go out on top istead of dragging it on for 16 seasons.

Yeah because one season of a superhit is logical and cost effective :P

Because series typically grow from their first to second seasons (regarding Housewives overtaking CSI).

Yep, I agree. I don't think DH will top CSI anytime soon, if ever.

Great for Desperate Housewives.

SEASON HIGH (I think) for Desperate Housewives
SEASON HIGH for Grey's Anatomy

Two great shows I am going to miss over the summer hiatus.

/what Libs said.

Shows, especially good ones :P grow from the first to second seasons once people catch up through summer reruns, and, in this case, the first season DVD.

As high as the ratings are now I think there are tons of people who still haven't check the show out, and if they did could becomed hooked like the millions of people who already have.

That and it should be a top winner at the Emmys. Best Comedy and Best actress are almost locks.

On the "seasonal growth" front. Whilst that may be true for shows like CSI, Desperate Housewives etc; i would point out that for more complex shows maintaining audiences is tougher as the shows age. Housewives isn't a "Cant miss an episode" show. You can easily be updated on the goings on and if you werent, it even recaps for you.

Impressive finales for Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy.

And hey...look at Attack of the Clones. =D>

not a chance for DH to overtake CSI next year. The CSI finale, directed by Tarantino, brought in quite a few new fans (myself included). CSI will remain on top until it ends in 4-6 years.

I think Housewives could. I'll certainly be watching reruns/the DVD to catch up and see what the show is all about, everyone REALLY loves it.

Good to see Grey's Anatomy holding strong in the ratings. Seeing as that it maintains the lead-in from Desperate Housewives this fall, hopefully it will continue to maintain good ratings.

Also, I'd just like to point out that it was the first hour of CSI that caused it to get an overall 30 million viewers.

Alot of people didn't know it was at 8.

The last half hour or second hour saw 35 million people watching. That's quite impressive. Expect a 30+ million prmiere next season.

If Grey's Anatomy stays above 20 million viewers next season, it will be a huge hit.

I hope LOST and ALIAS get some boosts too!

I don't know whos idea it was to schedule Desperate Housewives on Sundays at 9, but it was pure genius!
