Ya, ABC doesn't have too promising of a new schedule. I doubt very very very much Night Stalker will see light come January.
Invasion might work, but I think they're pushing it and it will also finish its run by the end of the season.

I never expected much from ABC anyway this season. they can't keep hitting bulls-eyes year after year. Here is what I think ABC needs to achieve in viewers so it will be considered a successful season in my eyes (of course I'm not taking into consideration 18-49demo and all that other stuff that REALLY matters, lol)

Keep up Housewives ratings, 25m+
Keep up Home edition ratings, 16m+
Keep up Grey's Anatomy ratings, 18m+

Keep up Lost ratings, 16m+ (throughout the entire season!)
Keep Boston Legal at around 11m+ viewers
Have at least 1 new breakout drama with around 11-12m+ viewers (most probably Commander in Chief, though I have big doubts about this show)

At least have 1 new comedy or old one stay consistent around 10m viewers

I think if it keeps that up, around mid-season and for next fall it will have a GREAT platform to build on.

O ya and bring the Mole back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mole was awesome. But, I don't really want a Celebrity Mole. Original only.

Completely agree!

The first celebrity mole was pretty good. The second one had its moments, but I never understood why they didn't do another original season!
Bring it BACK!!! I really don't think ABC knows what it's missing by not bringing it back. The celebrity ones performed pretty good in the 18-49 demo and the original season had a good size following. But above all, it's actually probably among the top 3 or so best, quality reality shows out there.

Celebrity Mole would have been fine once. But, they did it twice in a row. Overkill. It's nice once in a while, but I guess that's the price you pay, when apparently the original Mole didn't do as well (although I thought it did).

Wait, did the original Mole have 2 seasons or just the first?

Two seasons. The first was a success in the regular season. We only got three episodes in Season 2, then it was put on hiatus for like eight months until the summertime.

O ya. I remember now.
I started watching around the finale of the first one (because of friends and their enthusiasm for it). Seemed interesting, so I tuned in Season 2 but had to wait till summer. And then they started the Celebrity Editions!

Yep. Who did you like more as host, Anderson Cooper or Ahmad Rashad?

Rashad is nothing more than a hack.

Anderson Cooper was great.

I enjoyed the first celebrity Mole bec. of Kathy Griffin's snarky comments and I never even expected the identity of the eventual mole.

Rashad was incredibly bland, and I found nothing noteworthy about his performance as host.

Anderson was indeed great. He added a bit of mystery to the show, just as host.

All you Mole fans here should check out the finale of KJ's very own Mole on August 23rd.*points to signatures* Yes, I know this is just blatant advertising.

And I miss the Mole too. I never really watched the Celebrity ones though. Stephen Baldwin and Corben Bernson just pissed me off too much, so of course they had to bring them back a second time!

Yeah, I really didn't understand the need to bring them back a second time. That basically took away the tiny, tiny credibility that the first Celebrity season had.

I, too, found Rashad rather dull and really not adding much to the show.
I think Anderson Cooper was very fitting to the show and its tone. I miss it so much!

I had no idea we had a Mole game going on. How does it work? Will you guys have another one?

O ya, I also hated the two recurring celebrities because they were actually my two most annoyed-by celebrities from the first. And I loved Kathy Griffin... she's so funny.

Mole 2: Dorothy rocked!

It's really looking like a rather ho-hum season for new shows. Just Legal on The WB and The E-Ring on NBC look pretty good, but the only one I'm really anticipating and have been since watching a brief commercial on it is Reunion on Fox. It was a good thing they scheduled it when they did because really, there's very little to watch on Thursday nights...idiots.

None of the new shows are really catching my attention (even though I'll probably end up watching a couple of 'em), but this is one of my most anticipated TV seasons, in terms of returning series, ever.

And yes, reminiscing over The Mole is always good. Best reality show ever.

The Amazing Race has turned into a fine replacement, though.

But The Amazing Race is doing a family edition. Don't know if I like the idea too much.

Let's examine the new shows, shall we? (1-10, ten being must see, 1 meaning you couldn't pay me enough to watch it)

FOX:

Prison Break - This looks like it could be entertaining drama. I applaud the casting of Dominic Purcell (From Fox's great but prematurely canceled "John Doe") but I have my doubts that an entire series can revolve around a prison break when movies have done the same thing in two hours or less. I plan on watching it though come August 29 (that's an early premiere date).
Ranking: 8

Reunion - A TV series about a high school reunion? Fox, you can do better than this.
Ranking: 3

The War at Home - A sitcom starring Michael Rappaport. It certainly isn't original (yet another domestic sitcom) and Rappaport tends to get annoying in large doses but still it looks semi-watchable.
Ranking: 6

Bones - Yet another crime show, this one starring Emily Deschanel (Zooey's older and less dynamic sister) and David Boreanaz. It looks decent, if derivative in this day and age of crime shows that seem a dime a dozen.
Ranking: 6

Head Cases - A legal drama starring Chris O'Donnell (whatever happened to him?) and Rachael Leigh Cook. The idea of an attorney suffering from a nervous breakdown sounds mildly intriguing but I still can't get the feeling out of my head that the entire enterprise has a "been there, done that" feel to it.
Ranking: 5

Killer Instinct - Another crime show boosted by a great cast headlined by the supremely underrated Chi McBride ('I, Robot' and "Boston Public") This actually looks really interesting despite it being derivative. The whole idea of focusing on especially malicious psychopaths brings this up a notch by hopefully ratcheting up the tension.
Ranking: 8

Fox Overall: A decent slate of new shows (not one seems unwatchable from early buzz) but, at the same time, nothing that could be called "different" exists either.
Ranking: 7

ABC:

Invasion - A show focusing on an alien invasion sounds interesting and you know ABC is hoping it becomes another "Lost" but like "Prison Break", one wonders if a show focusing on such a premise will grow tiresome.
Ranking: 6

Commander-in-Chief - Geena Davis as the President? Okay... This looks incredibly awful. Words cannot describe how pathetic it looks. The few snippets I've seen feature some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard. With any luck it'll be the first cancellation of the new season.
Ranking: 1

The Night Stalker - This looks decent but I have my doubts that it'll be able to attract a large audience. It is going to have to rely alot on nostalgia for the original to survive I believe.
Ranking: 6

Freddie - Freddie Prinze Jr. gets his own sitcom. Yay? I haven't seen anything from it yet but it doesn't sound too promising at this juncture.
Ranking: 4

Hot Properties - A look at the lives of four women who work at a Manhattan real estate office. If that doesn't scream bad to me, I don't know what does. It likely is hoping for a little bit of that "Grey's Anatomy"/ Desperate Housewives" vibe but as of now I don't see it.

ABC Overall: This year's slate looks positively "Lost" and otherwise "Desperate" compared to last season.
Ranking: 4

CBS:

Threshold - A team of experts is assembled when the U.S. Navy discovers an extra-terrestrial craft has landed in the Atlantic Ocean. This sounds interesting and plays off the alien vibe that all networks seem to be going with this year. A cast featuring the likes of Carla Gugino, Charles S. Dutton, and Peter Dinklage doesn't hurt either.
Ranking: 7

How I Met Your Mother - Egged on by his best friend's upcoming nuptials, Ted believes he finds the woman of his dreams in Robin -- though destiny might have something different in mind. Featuring the ultimate "geek" cast with the likes of Alyson Hannigan ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and Neil Patrick Harris ("Doogie Howser, M.D.") this still doesn't seem all that intriguing. I'm still hoping that it is like "King of Queens" a little because that show is brilliant.
Ranking: 6

Out of Practice - I don't really know that much about this show other than it sounds like a comedic take on all those lawyer shows and it stars Henry Winkler and Stockard Channing and is directed by Kelsey Grammer ("Frasier"). It has the ingredients to be funny but we shall see.
Ranking: 5

The Ghost Whisperer - A newlywed (Jennifer Love Hewitt) with the ability to communicate with the earthbound spirits of the recently deceased overcomes skepticism and doubt to help send their important messages to the living and allow the dead to pass on to the other side. CBS canceled "Joan of Arcadia" (a favorite of mine) and replaced it with a show that sounds like a combination of "Joan" and "Touched by an Angel" with a younger lead. I like Hewitt but one has to wonder what kind of career she has when she has to resort to starring in a TV series that rips off multiple other series. I still will watch just to see what kind of show CBS thought to replace my beloved "Joan" with.
Ranking: 5

Criminal Minds - Another crime show although its casting of DJ Qualls seems inspired.
Ranking: 5

Close to Home - A crime drama starring Kimberly Elise ('Diary of a Mad Black Woman') and Jennifer Finnigan ("The Bold and the Beautiful"). Sounds sleep-inducing from where I sit.
Ranking: 3

CBS Overall: A mostly bland set of shows with the possible exception of "Threshold" should mean that CBS doesn't have any huge hits this season. Criminal Minds may be able to ride the coattails of the "CSI" phenomenon but we shall see if audiences have finally tired of this crime wave.
Ranking: 5

zap2it wrote:
"Reunion" chronicles the lives of a group of six friends over the course of 20 years -- all in just one season. Will longs to leave his small town behind. Aided by an athletic scholarship, he will be the first in his family to go to college. Craig, handsome and privileged, looks forward to the Ivy League with his girlfriend, Samantha, whose ambition is surpassed only by her looks and intelligence. The beautiful and sensual Jenna dreams of becoming an actress; behind his cynicism, Aaron dreams that his relationship with Jenna will go beyond friendship. Carla, innocent and quirky, must choose between loyalty to her father and staying near her best friends. "Reunion" opens in 2005 at the funeral of one of the friends, whose death is being investigated by Det. Marjorino. But before the identity of the deceased is revealed, we're transported back to 1986, as the group is celebrating their high school graduation. Each subsequent episode chronicles the next year in the clique's lives.

Good guess though.
