To be honest, I am not even sure if it's a TV show or a film. |

I like it! Seems to be a series. Seems quite like the film JCVD, which I haven't seen yet. Van Damme's post 2000 career turned me away from him, but I feel there's some stuff I should still check out. |

You'd probably hate everything he's done apart from JCVD. |

Amazon has a rather singular practice where they produce and release a pilot for a show, judge the response, and then decide whether to produce a full season. This is one of three released a few days ago: the others are a new adaptation of The Tick and I Love Dick, a comedy with Kevin Bacon. |

Is that not what happens elsewhere? I remember Sly made pilots for TV shows (Father Lefty for CBS), that never materialized into full shows. |

Ok, so Amazon do it more like an X-Factor of TV pilots. They produce a pilot and put them out there and from those three they judge which one will have the best shot at becoming a show. I think The Tick will most likely become a show more than the other two. |

Yes. Other companies do not tend to air or release their non-series pilots. |

I hope it works out. I liked JC's reality series when it was out. In general I love that he has had more fun in his later life. Anyone ever see his Coors Light Commercials? |

I haven't, but they're fun, nice share. |

I don't believe the fun in later life stuff. I think it's all a social media act. But yeah, I have seen those Coors adverts. They're fine. |

Well, I'd say he's done leagues better than Seagal. The man was pretty drugged out by 97, that I actually enjoy him now a lot more. And JCVD is fantastic, and I saw the comedy he was in that is god awful, but he is kind of hilarious in it. He actually has some good talent him outside of the physical stuff. His other commercials were fantastic and the split one was probably one of the most talked about stunt of the year it came out. Also I think his DTV movies have been decent. Also his Reality series was kind of cool. I think he found a nice niche for himself. |

He looks like a tired old man to me, desperately clinging to some, any sense of celebrity. Definite has-been. He ran out of ideas 20 years ago and has slowly faded since then with DTV project after DTV project. Being "better than Seagal" is no real salvation, but sadly it is his only remaining lifeline. He's a second-rate Chuck Norris meme. The splits commercial was talked about because of the obscurity of the idea, not because of Van Damme's talent, as seen by people not really caring about anything he did since. It revived nothing. It was a "Ha, look at Van Damme in that commercial". And, it wasn't his idea. He is not a creator. He is an old, vain gladiator in the modern arena of social media, and the best he can submit is hashtags and daily photos of his old films. |

That can be said of any bad actor. And I'm not saying he has talent, but has shown glimpses than most DTV stars and seems to accept what he is now. I certainly think his acting has improved over the years. And to be fair, that split commercial was a top 10 viral thing of the year it came out for how dangerous it was. It was undeniably very cool. I'm just saying I was never a fan. But he doesn't seem really bitter about his situation. The ego he had has definitely cooled. I'm just saying the more fun he has mixed with JCVD moments of drama. He's at least interesting to watch. Chuck Norris recent fame is a complete joke as well. But he had very little to do with it. Conan and Norris fact's did that. Van Damme at least participates. |

I'd say his acting has deteriorated over the years. Now he barely does anything but saunter around, frown, and look uninterested, as if everything to him is a bother - he plays all roles the same way. At the start of his career he at least had a youthful spring in his step and the occasional smile. Now his smiles are solely for social media photo opportunities. |

The fact alone that Amazon even attempts to produce a series around him puts him ahead the likes of Norris or Seagal. |

Well, it is only a pilot. But Seagal has had two of his own series, and Chuck had Walker, Texas Ranger for 12 years, and both had these forays into TV years before Van Damme had ... just a pilot. ![]() |
