 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
Kyle deeply bothers me.
I almost thought there might be a tribe-remixing twist, revealing Tai was meant to be with the brains, Alecia with the beauties, and Joe with brawn.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
Anyone see that Season 2 favorite Michael Skupin (he fell into the fire) is currently facing racketeering and possession of child pornography charges? He of course is denying all charges.

It would only make sense. But they pretty much botched the types anyway. Good premiere.

I can't believe they voted out Darnell instead of Alicia.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
So much to unpack here.
Caleb hasn't changed much from Big Brother (i.e. he's still annoying).
Debbie is on another plane of existence. "Puzzles lie down for me like lovers."
I was stupefied at the Brawns voting Darnell out rather than Alecia, even after a tie! I loved Alecia the Mental Giant forgetting to take the lid off the marker before writing her vote down.
And yes, Kyle/Jason/whatever the heck he's going by is highly obnoxious already.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
Alecia is far from a memorable player, but I believe her tribe treated her poorly. Constantly referencing what a dead-weight, disposable, unintelligent blonde she is, and then absurdly chafing any time she argued in her favor. This air of, "We are trying to help you...UNDERSTAND HOW USELESS YOU ARE. DIE. Don't be a victim."
Particularly the bounty hunter, always oddly blending his brand of misogyny with doting references to his daughters.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
This episode, between production's terribly ill-advised decision to have that particular challenge in that heat and the subsequent medevac of Caleb, followed by Alecia the Mental Giant's disgusting treatment from those dicks on her tribe, was not much fun to watch.

I honestly think it might be better than Cambodia/Second Chances was, which is shocking considering there was zero hype for this season before it aired. Tai denying Scot the use of the super idol was one of the great things I've ever seen on Survivor. I really, really want Aubry to win.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
This season had so many memorable moments so far. I loved Debbie's delusions, blindsides, Idol twist (just to see that Scott face once Tai denied him the Super Idol), pet chicken...
Final three should be Cidney, Aubry and Julia.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
Julia was a good player that made good moves, but she brought it on herself by being too openly friendly with Jason and Scott.
Next week looks like blindside is happening again.

Great season with a bland winner.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
This was a fantastic season, even though the ending was underwhelming.
I've been Team Aubry for a while now. I really like Michele, and she had a classically strong social game, but I can't help feel like Aubry was straight up robbed.
The reunion, as usual, was a disaster. Probst is so horrible at making them coherent. And I still don't even know what to say about the Sia thing.

Did they mention Mark the Chicken's fate during the reunion?

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
I'm so happy Michelle won. Love the underdog story. I never really liked Aubry. She was offputting. She would be a deserving winner too, but I'm glad this is how it ended. Such an amazing season.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
Just watched this tonight - how in the world did they give that to Michelle?? She played fine, but Aubrey had her outmatched.
I feel it had to have come down to Aubrey not winning enough challenges. It's quite possible her not winning that last reward challenge made the difference - not the benefit of using the actual reward, but just the credit it would have given to her game.

I don't think it had anything to do with challenges honestly. I think that, while Aubry was fairly well-liked and didn't really piss anyone off enough to cause hatred, Michele was EXTREMELY well-liked among the jury and did nothing whatsoever to piss any of them off. I kind of compare Michele's win to Danni from Guatemala. She rode the middle for the post-merge and won by being an agreeable/likable person. This end result is just different because, usually when the "likable but under the radar" type like Michele ends up winning, it's because they were against someone everyone on the jury hates (see: Natalie White beating Russhole Hantz in Samoa). Aubry wasn't really disliked, they just liked Michele a lot.

 Re: Survivor: Kaoh Rong
I would argue that Michelle's late game was indeed impressive as some jury members said. It seemed like she was on the chopping block non stop in the late game and she stepped up every time she had to.
The thing with Aubry (or at least the way I see it) is that she never had a big move for herself. As in all of her doing. She laid out strategy and it would be on the others do to so. She had a lot of pieces falling into place for her. She strategized a lot, but none of it would pan out if others weren't with her. It's like she was the ringleader, except she wasn't at all. Besides the fire challenge she never had to watch her back unlike Michelle. And that right there is a definition of Survivor.

Michele definitely had late-game momentum with the challenge wins and maneuvering of herself beyond the underdog position, which always helps.
