I think that's bigger than usual for VERONICA MARS. It seems like it's the biggest yet, which is not surprising since I figured the finale would be. Am I right or is it not the highest rating it had during the first season?

Not sure, but it built from the lead-in comedies, so that's a good sign, right? I don't get the problem, anyway. I think the ratings are fairly decent for a UPN series. Not boast-worthy, but still all right.
