All hail Tatiana Maslany

Way too many nominations for American Horror Story after such an uneven season. I adore Kathy Bates, but no.

Predictable, but still sad: no recognition for The Knick or Penny Dreadful.

I am pleased for Bloodline, Downton Abbey, House of Cards, and Wolf Hall.

Not a single one of these:

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A MINISERIES OR MOVIE
Kathy Bates, American Horror Story: Freak Show
Angela Bassett, American Horror Story: Freak Show
Sarah Paulson, American Horror Story: Freak Show

Is deserved.

God, Tatiana Maslany FINALLY gets nominated for an Emmy. So deserved.

Shocked and disappointed to see Ellie Kemper missed out for her role on Kimmy Schmidt, though. She was perfect in the role.

Oh, Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series - 2015 is nice. :)

I honestly forgot this is the last Emmy ceremony where Boardwalk Empire is eligible for recognition. I have become so used to it being undervalued, and it ended so quietly (albeit strongly) with a truncated season.

Also woah at Umbreakable Kimmy.... pretty much everyone got in but Ellie.... wtf??

Beyond the neat image of her having two heads, Sarah Paulson did not leave much of an impression this season. I blame the writing of the character(s) more than her.

Finn definitely deserved his nom though.

I agree.

Also, everything from Louie should win.

Transparent is my pick for everything. Such a wonderful show.

Parks though... Oof. Tough.

So.... Better Call Saul can win, right?

Post subject:  Re: Emmy Nominations 2015

I'm happy with a number of nominees (Schumer, Odenkirk and Banks, Key from Key & Peele, NO PARSONS), but man... how could Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt score so many nods and not one for Ellie Kemper? The whole show and its quirky premise lives and dies with her. Of course Tituss and Jane are great and deserve nods, but Ellie is perfect. If the category was crowded, I would understand. But, at the very least, could we have foregone the whole "let's nominate Lily Tomlin" thing just because we already know she's a great actress? The show is pretty average so far, as opposed to Kimmy Schmidt. I hope Netflix didn't push Tomlin more over Kemper.

I hope this is rectified for its second season.

For the most part, these are really strong nominations. A lot of the longstanding favorites were snubbed this year and they really did inject a lot of new blood into various categories for the most part.

Ecstatic for Tatiana Maslany. FINALLY.

On the flipside I am very upset Gina Rodriguez was snubbed for "Jane The Virgin," as well as Jaime Camill.

Great to see so much "Kimmy Schmidt" as well. The reason Kemper was probably snubbed is the fact that the category itself is very, very competitive. There are at least 5-6 other actresses who you could say were 'snubbed' there. Also Titus really was the breakout character of the show so I think Netflix may have been pushing him more.

Super happy for Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, and glad to see "Homeland" back in the Drama Series race after its sensational season 4.

Love the fact that "Parks" got a series nom for its final season and Amy Poehler is up again. I wonder if they submitted "Leslie and Ron" as their episode because that one was beautiful.

Psyched for Amy Schumer and Lisa Kudrow.

"The Good Wife" kind of got snubbed but this season wasn't as good as season 5 and at least Christine Baranski and Alan Cumming got in. I would have loved to see Matt Czuchry get one.

I can't believe "The Leftovers" and "The Affair" were completely snubbed. WTF Emmys?

Not a single nom for The Flash = Emmy's suck

(yes, I know it got a visual effects nom)

Kind of disappointed in the Mom snubs too. That's a prime example of a show that didn't make a strong enough first impression and now it'll forever be relegated to celebrating just a single nod (for the deserving Allison Janney).

dang, 8 nominees for supporting actress comedy.

Pretty cool about Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt but it's silly Ellie Kemper didn't get in. Also it's kind of annoying Uzo Aduba is the only one who gets recognized for OITNB, she's not really the the clear standout of the ensemble.

Did the voters kinda forget that "The Affair" existed? Also, how the fuck does "The Americans" keeps getting ignored over and over and over?

At least they finally aknowledged Tatiana Maslany.

Also...Grace of Monaco? I mean, c'mon...Are TV standards that low at once?

I am happy that Liev Schreiber got in.

The field for drama series is wide open this year without "True Detective" and "Breaking Bad". I think that aside from "Downton Abbey" and "Homeland" each of the other five has a shot to win.
