Clive Owen. I was, however, hoping they might nominate Caitriona Balfe for Outlander.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Nominations
Wow, is Jane the Virgin going to be able to parlay this acclaim and the awards so far into Emmy noms? Something not even The WB could manage back in the glory days of Buffy and Gilmore Girls.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Nominations
Lots of newbies. Jane the Virgin, Transparent, The Knick, The Affair.
True Detective is in its rightful place. But I have a feeling if it's between TD and Fargo, Fargo will beat it. But The Normal Heart likely has it all locked up, especially after The Emmys all but snubbed it.

The AFI mention is interesting, but I think the Emmys will ignore it largely. Also, kind of happy for Michelle Monaghan in a role that went largely ignored, thanks to her more heavyweight co-stars.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Nominations
Something else I just noticed: last year's two-time winner, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, was snubbed completely. And the show only got better since it won.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Nominations
Much more surprising noms than the movie ones. No "Modern Family", Boardwalk Empire", "Brooklyn Nine Nine", "The Big Bang Theory" or "Sherlock". No love for "24: Live Another Day" either and they used to love Sutherland as Bauer.
I wonder what will win Best Drama Series now. I think it will be "The Affair", they like awarding new stuff. In fact, "The Affair" might win all three of its categories.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Nominations
The thing about the Globes is that they love the flavor of the month. The big four acting awards will likely go to Clive, Viola, Tambor and Dreyfus (she never won, and they occasionally go for the long-deserving favorite).
The Affair will likely win Best Drama as I don't see why any of the other four would take it (GOT deserves it, but there is no precedent for it to win). Transparent is a potential dark horse in Comedy, but they'll probably play it safe and go Orange.
The other categories, who knows? I would assume True Detective will be shut out, though McConaughey may still have the hearts of the HFPA. It's kind of random how some award shows have loved TD, while others ignored it entirely.

 Re: 72nd Golden Globe Nominations
This was the first year where I had no interest in the TV side. They're just so random in their wins. I'm kind of happy Thornton finally got something for Fargo, but he wasn't even the best nominee for the show in the category. Freeman is lost in that role, and I mean that in the best way. Thornton seems to be playing an extension of himself, which isn't a bad thing.
The Affair understandably won, as far as nominees go, but I doubt that will translate at the Emmys, where it could even be shut out for a Drama nod.

Oh, also, his husband looks like a combo of Willem Dafoe and Stephen Colbert.
