Carol Peletier became the Chloe O'Brian of The Walking Dead: originally was a throwaway side character, now is a popular and integral part of the show.

I feel like the premiere has to kill off someone major. It needs just that extra jolt.

Also, I kind of like that the Beth scenes came at the very end. Gave those clips a bit of added importance for a character that has been largely irrelevant until those episodes with Daryl.

I feel like this is unnecessary, unless it's completely different from TWD. If it's basically TWD in a different part of the country/world, why bother? It's just basically new characters with the same style of writing. If it has a different voice, great. But I doubt it.

I loved the season premiere tonight! Carol was so awesome in fighting back toward the beginning. What I loved the most about the episode was Daryl and Carol reuniting!!!

That opening sequence is some of the best stuff this show has done. Intense.

Loved the premiere and the intense tone that it took. Hopefully, the brutal/in-your-face approach continues this season.

So I had no idea and had to watch back for the "post-credit" scene. What is this, Marvel's Walking Dead?

But that was beyond awesome. I was so greatly disappointed by last year's premiere and it led to a stellar season, so I hope the reverse doesn't happen.

I wonder what Season 1 Carol would think of Season 5 Carol.

I had no idea that was Robin Lord Taylor at the beginning.

I love that the show basically re-invents its storytelling every so often. Last year they devoted TWO entire episodes to just The Governor, then went with more episodes devoted to just a handful of people per episode, which was brilliant. Now the premiere with the "THEN" and "NOW" stuff was great. And I liked the idea of knowing Morgan James is out there and he'll join Rick at some point.

If I had to guess, maybe Morgan will rescue Beth and they will both join the group by midseason. Emily Kinney's name is in the opening credits which should give her security at least until the winter season.

Also, Rick met Robin Lord Taylor's character in the Season 4 premiere as well? Don't remember that at all.

I'm expecting an entire episode to be devoted to telling Beth's story, much like The Governor last year.

As long as they include new, interesting side characters, I'm fine with that.

Also, they need to kill someone off soon. As I was increasingly nervous they were going to off Glenn in the first 5 minutes.

That was my only complaint about the premiere. They killed off three or four unknown characters and of course the four characters we know live.

But that doesn't take away from the terror the scene conveyed with the clubbing over the head followed by slicing their throat.

That might've been the ballsiest move in the history of TV to off one or two of the main guys in the first 5 minutes by throat slicing.

Oh well.

Carol's character evolution is one of the best things about the show. Great premiere, I hope they're able to keep the show moving at a brisk pace. I'm surprised there are so many fans when a lot of past episodes are really, really slow.
