the ending with Saul telling on national tv Carrie is a bipolar and blaming it all on her illness. HOLY FUCK. Talk about breaking their relationship to pieces
My only big complain is that Breaking Bad is such a masterpiece it makes this show look not that special at all.

Season 1, Metascore 91 (28 reviews) Season 2, Metascore 96 (21 reviews) Season 3, Metascore 75 (13 reviews so far)
That is quite a drop in quality.

Everyone's bitter over the second season that was actually not nearly as bad as some made it out to be.

Although that really doesn't make sense since season 2 has a higher score than season 1.

Based on the first 4 episodes of each season submitted to critics. Besides season 2 was graded on the goodwill from season 1

Re: "Homeland" (Season 3)
I honestly don't get the hate season two seems to get. Sure it was a bit more far fetched, but this show isn't exactly reality. The only thing I hated about it was Dana. She should have died.

Season 2 was great. And say what you will about Dana but Morgan Saylor gave an excellent performance last season.

Re: "Homeland" (Season 3)
I didn't realize how much I missed having Carrie Mathison on my screen until the opening scene. Claire Danes is just so flawless in this role - she's absolutely riveting to watch. I loved the scene between her and her dad and her last scene as well. The Quinn scenes were super tense and the ending was shocking. I actually liked Dana's scenes too - I don't get the hate for her character and think Morgan Saylor is consistently great.
SAUL. WTF ARE YOU DOING?!
So excited for the rest of the season. I also think it was really wise to keep Brody out of the premiere. It wasn't necessary to show him yet. The preview for the rest of the season looks intense - my heart broke when I saw Carrie in those restraints again being drugged

Re: "Homeland" (Season 3)
I enjoyed the premiere a lot. I'm really not sure to make of what/where this season is going yet, which feels exciting. It was interesting to have no Brody (I wonder how long it will be until he appears again) physically, but his specter hanging over the rest of the show.
I know Dana has been the main punching bag for a lot of people recently but I feel like watching the Brodys in the aftermath of Brody's public reveal could be really interesting.
My heart broke a little bit when Saul threw Carrie under the bus. Ouch.

I like Dana a lot and agree that storyline has a lot of potential if it's handled well.
I read that Brody isn't showing up until the third or fourth episode of the season.
Just like The running over poor lady was handled SO WELL, right?

I didn't dislike that storyline. I think all of the Dana hate in season 2 was unjustified. People just like to find something to bitch about.

The backlash this show received is RIDICULOUS.

if the show actually was about homeland security and not about some stupid-ass love story between a mentally challenged woman and a conflicted soldier, it probably would be much better.
Brody's not even in the season premiere. Or the second or third episodes, apparently.
Also, calling someone who has bipolar disorder "mentally challenged" seems a bit...incorrect?

Re: "Homeland" (Season 3)
I was really disappointed in the premiere. It wasn't terrible, it was just really dull. Saul throwing Carrie under the bus definitely was a big shocking moment, but I'm sure there is a reason behind it all.
Hoping the season picks up a little bit. I'm currently watching the first season with my boyfriend because he's never seen it and it is just so damn good.

not even gonna bother wasting my time with this show anymore. it's shit.
I got 25 minutes in and was like "nahhhhhh, I'm outie". I'll probably binge watch the season next summer or something but have no interest in it for now, unless the S1 quality buzz starts for it
Homeland is bad now for the reason that despite the hate, Dexter Season 8 was still good. Dexter still had personality and compelling guest stars and built its episodes with an entertaining pace. Dexter was good at telling the story, but telling a goofy one. Homeland is really struggling in storytelling department right now, it's just not fun to watch. The problem with Homeland is it's too serious/dreary to be popcorn fun, but its writing is too stupid to hold up a pedigree show. It's a sheep dressed in wolf's fur but not fooling anyone, but then it's not living as a sheep either

Uhh...what? Michael C. Hall was very much on auto-pilot this whole last year, the guest stars were paper-thin characters only there to be SHOCKINGLY killed (SHOCKINGLY!!!), and the pace was seemingly trying to assist insomniacs in getting some much-needed sleep.
I seriously have no idea what S8 of Dexter you saw, but it absolutely must have been some alternate universe take on it
As for the Homeland premiere, it was also rather dull. Needs more Virgil and infinitely less Brody family. The fact that Dana meets a cute boy in this premiere is a scary omen, as last season's premiere had her meeting VP son and all the fun that went with that.
*Clarification: I don't hate Dana or the Brody family, but I don't know why they're still under our focus.

Wait. If I go back to page 1, am I really going to see someone speak highly of DEXTER Season 8?

Next I'm expecting someone to come in here with an impassioned defense of The Following, arguing that Homeland has stolen that show's Emmy potential or something.

LOL at saying "Dexter" (especially its last season) is better in ANY way than this show. May be the funniest and most inaccurate post of 2013.
