Ok Dr Lecter, ripping you off! Two of my favorites BB and Dexter are over and I just told Homeland "we need to talk", so I could take on another presently airing show in place of those three. I already watch Once Upon A Time, Justified, Community, Louie, True Blood, Game of Thrones What do you think? |

I'll lean towards American Horror Story. Next probably would be The Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire. I would have recommended Sons of Anarchy but like Dexter, it got shitty towards past season 3(4 for Dex). Other shows that are recommended: Sherlock, Rectify and Orphan Black |

Boardwalk Empire: - A wealth of fascinating characters defined by their moral compromises and torn allegiances, which should excite a fan of Breaking Bad and Dexter - Through-the-roof production values, from the photography to the costume and set design - Careful and intelligent pacing; the various stories unfold in a deliberate, but riveting way and always come together perfectly - The inspired idea to give the incredibly talented Steve Buscemi, always elevating films in smaller roles, a nuanced lead role on television - A Martin Scorsese directed pilot |

Problem with Boardwalk Empire is that it may have stunning production values and great cast, its too slow like half of the times and can get very boring. It also is bogged down by alot of supporting characters that don't really add to the story line. You see The Wire and Game of Thrones has a huge supporting cast but they were never borrowing and they do eventually move the plot forward. I haven't found much that Chalky White, Nucky's nephew and Margaret Thompson being that vital to Boardwalk Empire. |

Of the shows I watch... The Walking Dead is OK, but very overhyped. Very little actually happens on the series itself and it can definitely be boring at times. The first season is arguably the best. Arrow is surprisingly really good for a CW series. The production values are great for the type of show it is and it actually has a pretty intriguing storyline. And the cast is uniformly solid with an exception here and there. Revenge had a great first year, a terrible second year and seems to be getting on track for its third season. It's a little too early to tell though. Scandal is overhyped, but definitely worth watching if you want something fairly dumb with a lot of plot twists. Kerry Washington is great though and the third season has been solid so far. American Horror Story is very easy to pick up because each season is standalone. It's very exciting and has a great cast every season, along with a fair number of surprising twists and turns. This current season is AWESOME and it's one of the few shows I look forward to every week. Parenthood is pretty much perfect. It's a must watch if you were a fan of Friday Night Lights. So well-acted, organic and moving. Modern Family has had its ups and downs but I still consider it one of TV's strongest half-hour comedies. The cast works really well together and has a fair number of standouts. And many of the episodes are hilarious. Agents of SHIELD...no. Sleepy Hollow is really fun and in the vein of something like the early seasons of Buffy. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is visually pretty stunning. I really like the dynamic between the leads too. Masters of Sex could be better than it is right now, but is solid. It's worth checking out for Lizzy Caplan's performance. |

You can wait on Walking Dead, despite my love for it. Because Parenthood needs your eyeballs. |

The Good Wife. It's the best on network television for years now. And definitely among the best things overall too. |

Life on Mars, the BBC series. It's over and has just two seasons (though it was not just cancelled mid-show, it has a proper ending). So, it's not that much of a time investment, it is one of the best shows I have ever seen. It features one of TV's best characters (Gene Hunt), it has got humor, cop-show-dtective work and Lost-style mystery (but in good). It's a hoot. And it got a spin-off, Ashes to Ashes, which is just as good. |

In general, BBC shows are alot better than the american broadcast shows. Spaced, Life on Mars, Sherlock, and Ashes to Ashes all have that type of charm. |

If we're going with British shows, Luther is so fucking good. |

I actually forgot to put Sherlock on the list, I should've. Though because of the 90 minute format it's in a different category than the others, I suppose |

Is Parenthood comparable to Six Feet Under? Or does it feel more like a network show? |

Shack wrote: Is Parenthood comparable to Six Feet Under? Or does it feel more like a network show? Parenthood is nothing like Six Feet Under, other than also starring Peter Krause. It's more like Friday Night Lights (another Jason Katims show) than anything else. It's a terrific series. |

Seriously, Shack, give BBC a shot. In that order: 1. Life on Mars 2. Sherlock 3. Luther All three are great, though. |

Gotta put my support behind Orphan Black, which is a terrific series with one of the best performances on television by Tatiana Maslany. There's only one season consisting of 10 episodes so far, so it's not a huge time investment, but it's well worth the watch. |

I really can't add much more to the above. It is just so lovingly put together and not a minute bores me. In just riveted to the screen when it's on. |

Ok, I think I will watch American Horror Story, in part because I'm also watching The Sopranos right now and don't want to do that and Boardwalk at the same time. Will also get to the Sherlock episodes at some point. |

Do you like: - Smart dialogue? - Complex characters? - Parliamentary politics? - Subtitles? Then Borgen is the show for you! |

I watched the first episode of Revenge and American Horror Story after finishing The Sopranos. Revenge's was good enough to keep watching, but AHS has one of the best pilots I've seen - amazing. |
