So, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are gone, Randy Jackson's future is still up in the air, Aretha Franklin pretty much volunteered for a job and wants Patti LaBelle by her side. Mariah Carey and Adam Lambert are rumored as potential judges.

Others:
Miley Cyrus
Katy Perry (Turned down the offer)
Nicki Minaj
Fergie
will.i.am
Celine Dion
Must be (and i hope so) a dumb made up rumor but Charlie Sheen is also being considered.

I personally think they should just pull the plug on the show, but thats obviously not going to happen, so, as judges id like Nicki Minaj, either Aretha or Mariah, get rid of Randy and bring in Adam Lambert.

Considering how outdated the show's mentors and theme weeks are I won't be surprised when the new judge announcements are made and it's Neil Diamond, Tom Jones and Lesley Gore.

Well don't expect on being surprised.

No need for Miley or Adam (seriously...)

I'm disappointed there's on Katy Perry, but Minaj would be interesting. It's all about finding a star who doesn't mind filming a tv show for 16 weeks. That's a big time commitment but considering how much you could earn for just giving an opinion I don't see why you wouldn't want to earn easy money.

Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle? Are we sure they're not volunteering for Celebrity Apprentice?

They need a big name that has been in the business since at least the 90's. A panel consisting of Miley Cyrus, Adam Lambert, Nicki Minaj, and Randy Jackson? That may be popular with young viewers, but I know if I was auditioning I couldn't take their feedback seriously enough. And as a viewer, such a panel would have almost no credibility.

Aretha Franklin...... maybe, but she doesn't seem interested unless Patti LaBelle is also apart of the show. That's too much. Mariah Carey would be a better choice, though I also like Missy Elliot. But even better than them would be one of the biggest past winners, Carrie Underwood. She has the credibility and appeals to a younger audience at the same time.

Stephan Tyler's replacement needs to be someone who's criticism those auditioning and viewing can take seriously. I think Elton John would be a great choice here.

My casting:

Elton John
Carrie Underwood
Randy Jackson

Charlie Sheen 'genuinely interested' in 'Idol' gig
Associated Press – 22 hrs ago
NEW YORK (AP) — Could Charlie Sheen be a judge on "American Idol"? The actor says he's game.

In an interview Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, Sheen said "Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe publicly threw his name out there as a possible judge and the idea piqued people's interest — including his own.

"It seems so out of the blue that it almost made perfect sense. I thought this could be a lot of fun," he said. "Seriously ... I'm genuinely interested. It's so different, it could be radical."

This could actually happen if they want a Howard Stern/America's Got Talent type buzz and, they desperately need it. They hired Ellen once, a person that doesn't have a background in music... so... Why not. :pinch:

They did hire Ellen but that didn't work. Too many judges and she was too nice but I liked her comedy. Ehh, sheen I guess I could see on some level but is that the opinion you are looking for when auditioning and watching the show.

Mariah Carey joins 'American Idol'

Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez and now … Mariah Carey.

Fox just made it official: Carey is the latest successful pop diva to join American Idol. The 42-year-old will join the judges table for season 12.

As reported in this week’s issue of EW, Carey has been the leading contender to join the panel this summer, which has seen a flurry of celebrity names floated in the press as possible candidates. Her salary is expected to be somewhere north of $12 million — the sum paid Jennifer Lopez during her first year on the show — and possibly as high as $17 million.

Previously, Simon Cowell was courting Carey as a mentor for X Factor’s second season, though it’s not clear if her Idol announcement precludes an appearance on Fox’s other show.

She reminds me of someone who couldn't offer proper criticism if her life depended on it.

Very excited to see the twins! And I don't mean her children...

Cool, I wonder what male judge that hasn't had a hit single in forever they'll hire.

Will Mariah insist Nick Cannon replace Ryan Seacrest?

I approve. But I haven't been a fan of hers since her early career. The time period spanning Vision of Love to One Sweet Day. She's had a few good songs since then, but her style changed to one I mostly don't like. I liked the way she looked back then better too. But I was a teenager in the early 90's so I suppose that makes sense.

She brings credibility vocally that the show has actually never had. She was a good mentor a few seasons back. Whether she'll be a good judge... we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully she can offer some decent criticism and/or tell it like it is. I would just love for someone who is full of themselves to try to sing one of her songs and have her say "that sucked."

They need to do something like put Jack Black, Cher and Nick Cannon beside Mariah. Who cares if it's not that credible, it's fun.

I've seen Brad Paisley's name mentioned. Someone who's actually got ongoing success in one of America's major music styles, and someone who's got humour and personality to boot? I'd support that.

Brad Paisley is awesome: talented, funny, and good looking. And the only people emerging from Idol these days that even seem to sell anything are country singers, so why not?

If the type of singers on stage were a direct reflection of the talent and style of the judges on the panel, we would yet to see anyone remotely capable of singing on the show.

I haaaate country music but he would be a smart choice and I'd rather see him as a judge than fucking Randy or Steven.

I would be fine if Tim McGraw did it. But past him... no other country star is worthy.
