"Scandal" (Season 2)
Plot Summary: "Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation's elite and keeping their secrets under wraps. Revered and feared at the same time, one time communications director to the President of the United States left the White House to open her own prominent crisis management firm. Olivia is hoping to start a new chapter in her life - both professionally and personally - but she can't seem to completely cut ties with her past. Slowly it becomes apparent that her dysfunctional staff, who specialize in fixing other people's lives, can't quite fix the ones closest at hand -- their own - in ABC's midseason drama, 'Scandal.'"
"Scandal" stars Kerry Washington ("Ray") as Olivia Pope, Henry Ian Cusick ("Lost") as Stephen Finch, Columbus Short ("Stomp the Yard") as Harrison Wright, Guillermo Diaz ("Half-Baked") as Huck, Darby Stanchfield as Abby Whelan, Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins, Tony Goldwyn ("Ghost") as President Fitzgerald Grant, and Jeff Perry ("Grey's Anatomy") as Cyrus Beene.
The series was created by Shonda Rhimes ("Grey's Anatomy," "Private Practice") and the pilot was directed by Paul McGuigan.
This premieres tonight at 10PM on ABC and has been getting pretty solid reviews. Anyone planning on watching?
I'm a fan of both Washington and Cusick so I'm definitely checking it out. The pilot is available for free on iTunes so I might watch before the premiere tonight.

Re: "Scandal" (Season 1)
Eh. Sounds boring to me. Not a very interesting plot there. People who fix others problems and lives but can't fix their own. It sounds like a template sentence for making a TV show. People who ____________ for others but can't do the same for themselves.

Really enjoyed the first episode, and watched the second this morning since it's available early on Hulu. Kerry Washington is great in this.

Anyone else watch this show?
The new season premieres tomorrow night. I'm excited. The first season was very well-done and underrated, with quite a few surprising twists. Kerry Washington is fantastic.

Re: "Scandal" (Season 2)
I've been catching up on this show over the weekend since I've missed most of season 2 thus far. Kerry Washington continues to be great but this season is kind of...stupid? The storylines are so over-the-top and outlandish that it is a little hard to take seriously. Also other than Olivia and like one or two other characters the rest are completely interchangeable and boring.
It's a little hard to believe this show is getting so much buzz now. I thought the first season was much better.

Finally catching up on this show. Am six episodes into season 2. Kinda loving it! It's like Grey's Anatomy meets The West Wing, and Kerry Washington is just so good.
Good for you, Shonda.

"Grey's Anatomy" is SO much better than this show. Kerry Washington is amazing but the rest of this show is just eh. I will never not HATE the camera clicking effect or the random 70s soul music that constantly plays.
This season has improved in the past few weeks though.

This is still true if you add one or two characters . Other than Olivia, Fitz, Lindsay, Huck and Mellie I couldn't tell you one character's name off the top of my head.
I also think Guillermo Diaz is pretty bad on this series, personally.

Speaking of "West Wing" by the way, I've been watching it over the past few months and just started season 7. OBSESSED. I am going to be sad when there's no more to watch

Re: "Scandal" (Season 2)
Just watched "Molly, You in Danger, Girl" (best episode title of all time, by the way, thank god for Ghost references!) This show is absolutely freaking coconuts. lol. It's preposterous, of course, but it's incredibly entertaining. I didn't know Shonda had this kind of shit in her. This show totally picked up the "best deliciously over-the-top soapy melodrama" title from Revenge this season.
Also, Emmy nom for Kerry Washington plz.
Only one more episode to watch before I'm all caught up for tomorrow night's new one!

It's funny you say this because I just watched "Seven Fifty-Two" and thought he was absolutely terrific in the episode. Now I'm finally caught up and can watch live after Grey's!

Everyone has said that about that episode but it just reeked of overacting to me.

Re: "Scandal" (Season 2)
Tonight's episode gave me life. Mellie is like primetime's best bitch. Also, given how I've been binge watching this like crazy, Olivia and Fitz are obviously a toxic combo but even I was like..."get it, girl" at the end of this one.

Last night's episode got a 3.2 in demo!
Not a fan of this season much but the second half of this season has had an amazing run in the ratings.

I love how many times I gasp during this show. Jeff Perry and Bellamy Young need Emmy noms in addition to Kerry Washington. lol

THIS! I don't understand the sudden boom in popularity. Season 1 was much better. This season is so ridiculous and boring.

This show is so good. You two are crazy. lol
It's making Grey's look wan in comparison, and I still like Grey's.

Papa Pope in the houseeeeeeeeeeee. That was like the cliffhanger equivalent of a mic drop.
Shonda, you magnificent bastard. I've watched this entire series over the last month HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER JESUS CHRIST HEART PALPITATIONS

I hope season 3 is better than this season. I'd give it like a C for season 2 (by comparison season 1 was a B/B+)

I also haven't watched the finale yet, so maybe that grade could go up if it's especially epic "Revenge" had the best season finale of any show I follow this year, and also probably had the worst season. I've seen crazier things happen

Re: "Scandal" (Season 2)
The dialogue is pretty awful. Like, it works in "Grey's" with the constant repeating of phrases, etc. but here it's just grating. It feels like an inferior "West Wing."
This isn't to discredit Kerry Washington though. She's great on this series and I wouldn't be upset if she got Emmy consideration.

The finale was good. One of the better episodes of the season. It was actually pretty exciting.

Awesome! Hopefully season 3 will be better with her included. I still consider this show in the 'good-but-overrated' category, but I love her and hope they give her some decent material.
