FOX goes to Plan Z for Friday Nights
Not much of a surprise here. FOX is sick of losing on Friday nights. Here is a short list of TV shows that I can remember that failed to register any sort of life on Friday nights on FOX: Harsh Realm, Millennium (Season 3), Lone Gunmen, Jonny Zero, Fastlane (I believe it moved there mid-season), FreakyLinks, Bernie Mac, Luis, Wanda at Large, Boston Public (Season 3 or 4), various bad reality programming that varies from America's Funniest Home Videos-esque shows to Temptation Island-esque series, and undoubtedly many, many more. FOX sucks when it comes to Fridays, with the exception of The X-Files in its Friday run, and part of Millennium's run. You can't say Chris Carter shows have a thing for Fridays, since his two other shows (Harsh Realm and Lone Gunmen) also failed to do much for Fridays.
So, with a graveyard of TV shows big enough to run another primetime network, FOX has settled for the FOX Friday Movie Night until the end of the year. I couldn't decipher if that is the end of this season or until December of 2005. Then again, FOX's year in television never ends with year-round programming. Either way, FOX is going to the last resort, something that they did on Thursday nights a few years ago, and have always done on Friday nights when they had nothing else to shove into the 8-10pm time slots.
