 Re: AFI's Top 10 Shows of 2011
Never seen Louie so is it really as good as they say it is? Don't quite understand the fuss because even for a FX comedy series, you hear more talk about Its always Sunny and the League. The overall critics list seems to be the same except with Boardwalk Empire out of the list and in with Community

Boardwalk should top every list. Good list for a year with no Mad Men.

Replace Modern Family (propaganda) with Community and that would be perfect.
Louie is great. It is similar to Seinfeld in concept, but the style of humor is completely different and much more ambitious.

It's Always Sunny and Archer especially are funnier than Louie.

jmovies wrote: It's Always Sunny and Archer especially are funnier than Louie. Its always sunny is the funniest show on tv right now. I don't understand Archer. I gave the first two episodes a try but the show tries to hard with the innuedos. Dont get me wrong, I love the adultswim stuff like Aquateen, Venture Brothers etc however I think Archer falls more into the category of shows like Drawn Together and Family Guy that uses too many pop culture references

Wrong, Archer is the funniest show on TV.

Louie's unlike anything I've seen on television. You never get such one fresh, distinct, hilarious voice have complete control (writing, directing, editing) on a show.
This is a great list, just fit in Community and Archer somewhere (Modern Family and The Good Wife can get the boot).

 Re: AFI's Top 10 Shows of 2011
Anyone still extolling the virtues of Modern Family above the majority of quality comedies is obviously not actually watching television anymore. It's been in a year-and-a-half-and-counting slump. I take no pleasure in pointing this out.

I think the show is still strong, but it hasn't improved on its first season. But I think it has plateaued. I don't believe it's worse than it was. The slump isn't as noticeable as, say, Glee. Out of curiosity, what comedies are you watching, yoshue?

 Re: AFI's Top 10 Shows of 2011
"Happy Endings," "Parks and Recreation" and "Cougar Town" are all better, more consistent comedies than "Modern Family" right now.

yoshue watches, let alone loves, 2 Broke Girls? I suppose he's a big fan of Whitney, too.

Whitney is wretched, but 2 Broke Girls haters are just people who think they're too cool for multi-camera sitcoms even though, in the right hands, it's still a viable format. The show's not perfect, but it works. I look forward to it every week even though I can no longer stomach the turgid mess HIMYM has become.

I love 2 Broke Girls but Yoshue being a fan of it is probably the most surprising thing I've heard in months.

Oleg says, in the right hands, he has a viable format for you. And it works very well.
