Post DR WHO returns to ratings success
Dr Who returned to critical praise on Easter Saturday - and its endless advertising seemed to have worked. The sci-fi drama starring Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper proved the perennial ratings draw on Saturday night; beating massive competition in "Ant & Dec's Saturday..." and peaking with 10.5 Million viewers - enough for at least a fourth place ranking on this weeks ratings charts.

"Who" was praised by critics for its modern spin on the old show; but the first episode took to making mannikins attack humans; perhaps not the best hook to catch new viewers who have been terrified by the likes of floating vampires on shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" but nontheless the show as fast paced and fun; and it was reflected in a solid audience retention throughout. The show averaged 9.9 Million viewers for BBC1.

On Sunday night movie premiere of "Tears of the Sun" pulled in a good 2.5 Million for network Five inspite of its box office dissapointments.

It was corny; ill admit. But it was a good laugh and pretty fun. I doubt it can sustain those ratings though after the first episode

The second episode was just as pants as the first. It did however provide the line: "Jade, you're made of wood!" Which had me guffawing!

Next week's episode looks absolutely hilarious.

you know what really annoys me about this new doctor who- everyone is raving about it saying how brilliant and witty it is etc etc- and how it doesn't take itself to seriously!

but the problem is it clearly does take itself far too seriously! (see tonights ep as example- its the end of the world!! my dad has to die to save the world! bla bla )

it dragged on for about ten minutes where all the cast were crying and spouting out cliched lines about the end of the world and what not, whilst the badly computer generated monster circled over head (I'm sure a lot of work has been put into it, and yay to those people- but I wish people would stop going on about its high budget) it was actually painful to keep watching!

maybe I just don't get doctor who- coz I never really got into the old shows either- but come on- is it just me (and snrub maybe) who thinks it isn't quite as good as the reviews suggest!!?

rant over- for now...
