 The 'Tru Calling' Thread
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/gofuton.cgi?action=newswire&id=6856
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- One of our most frequently asked questions got answered today as FOX has finally scheduled the second season premiere of "Tru Calling."
The sophomore drama, which FOX confirmed in January won't be picked up for a third season (read the story), will debut with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, March 31 beginning at 8:00/7:00c. Said broadcast will replace the previously announced repeats of "The O.C." on the night ("The Family Ties" and "The Power of Love").
The following week, "Tru" will take over the Thursday, 9:00/8:00c slot currently occupied by "Point Pleasant." That series will head to hiatus while "The O.C." will remain at 8:00/7:00c.
I pray to God for ratings to be in the range of The O.C.'s, and maybe we'll at least get a decent finale!

I'm so excited about this. But it's too bad they are only airing the remaining 6 episodes that were filmed for the second season. They should have given it a chance to see how the ratings would be with a lead-in that could get it better ratings and now that the competition wouldn't be as bad (last year it had FRIENDS to face - how in the hell could it compete with that? Although I watched TRU CALLING over FRIENDS because it was much better , but I did tape the episodes of FRIENDS with Anna Faris on) and the first season is on DVD for more people to discover. This sucks! It was a great show! If only they would have given it more time! It's WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY better than the lame O.C. - it deserved those ratings much more. How in the world could they have thought the horrible and boring POINT PLEASANT was actually a better idea? It just doesn't make sense! They would have done better with TRU CALLING. Fox is being run by morons. But at least they'll be airing these six episodes.

Well finale isn't a finale really. It' just a normal episode. The thirteenth episode should have been finale (season or series), but FOX ended the production while they were filming the sixth episode, so they just probably ended it like a normal episode (but don't tell me how it ends. Second season starts in my country on March 26th so... ).

If Tru Calling held most or all of OC's ratings, FOX could rethink it, but as much as I don't want to say this, I doubt it will be big upon its return. Only the fans will want to tune in. Even just partial watchers from last season probably won't remember it, nor will they watch it again.

I wish it would come back, but they've probably already destroyed the sets and the actors have moved on. They'd have to rebuild them and get the actors back and everything.
I think it should do over 5 Million for sure at least. The only thing is that people who haven't seen it before likely aren't going to want to tune in because they've already missed so much that they'd be confused and not as into it. It's too bad reruns of the first season wouldn't have been aired in order this last summer so it could get some new viewers. Or it's too bad some other channel wouldn't have aired the first season in order this fall/winter. But now FOX doesn't even care about the show and is just using it to fill space.

People that have already seen the secodn season say that it's easy to tune in and realise what's going on. I'll be seeing the first episode of the second season tomorrow, can't wait!

Well that's good. Still, for me I need to see a show from the very beginning in order to fully enjoy it. I hate missing anything.

It's probably not well-known, but Tru Calling is on DVD, and I don't think it's incredibly expensive either. But, I wouldn't suggest blindbuying it without seeing an episode. If you're not against downloading TV shows, go find a TV torrent site and download an episode of Tru Calling to see if you like it.

People could just check it out disk by disk if they belong to Blockbuster Online or Netflix too if they didn't want to blind buy it.

I hate missing anything too. I missed the second episode of Alias when it aired in my country, so I didn't want to watch it anymore, instead I ordered UK DVD set to watch all the episodes \:D/
Tru Calling starts on March 31st, if your a Nielsen family watch it, or if you don't watch anything at least leave your TV on

LOL! I missed the first episode of ALIAS and then saw the second and third and missed the fourth and then quit watching it because it's a show where if you miss an episode (in my opinion) it's so freakin' easy to get lost. So I found myself lost and just gave up. I'd like to watch it from the beginning though and definitely plan on it eventually.

You definitly should. Alias is such a wondeful show. I currently finished the third season and it's not as bad as people say, I mean it's far from the brilliance of the first two seasons, but just as Buffy's forth season was better than anything else on TV, so is Aliases (weak) third season.
Just two more hours 'till Tru starts... I'm nervous, I keep imagining how Tru/Jack thing will play out... In Tru's place I'd kill Jack without thinking :-$

You lucky bastards, you get two hour premiere. "Perfect Storm" was just perfect. (Slight spoilers ahead) I like the idea used a few times in the first season, that sometimes when Tru fixes little things, that results in something not so pleasant for her (remember, she was the one responsible fro Davis to employ Jack in the morgue). Second, this episode showed how Jack will play the game and how Tru will respond. And there was a hint that Harrson is also Mr. Death, but actually I'm more anxiuos to know how they all get their calling, do they pass it on to their heirs and if so, how did it all started, and if no, how they become what they are, and has Tru's dad stopped relieveing days, 'cause if his cause ended when Tru's mother died, does that mean that Tru's mom was actually a bad guy too, because once univers got rid of her messing up with life and death, it needed no more services from Tru's father, and if that means that Tru is bad, or what... I mean I hope that the series give answer to at least a few of those questions, I know it was left pretty unfinished (No I don't want anyone to post the answers to these questions, thank you, I'd like to find that out just by watching the eps on TV )

When you see it, tell me our favorite episode from S1. To me that's 'Colorblind'.

Alright I will.
What is your favorite episode of TRU CALLING: Season 1? Besides the finale. Mine is Star Crossed.

Two Pair & The Longest Day... Can't decide.
But the coolest part was in Murder In The Morgue, when that bullet was heading into Tru's head, and then the rewind day started, it was Matrix style... Very cool.
Star Crossed was good, especially that little plot twist at the end about who's really with who...
But yeah. Finale was mind blowing. But Perfect Strom is definitely my fav for now. And it must've costed a lot that episode.
Oh, boy, Tru VS. Jack.... That's awesome... \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

I thought it was excellent last night.
There were a few recognizable faces on it too. On the first episode (the first hour) there was POPULAR's Carly Pope and on the second one there was MEAN GIRL's Lizzy Caplan (who will be on the rest of the episodes too). Then there was also Eric Christian Olsen (NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE, DUMB & DUMBERER).

Tomorrow the second ep airs in my country, so I'll tell you my opinions on that one.
Spoiler!
I liked the end of Perfect Storm, when Jack finds 'Been there, saved that' on his car. They tend to humor much more in this season, it seems.

'Grace' was great. It was better than 'Perfect Storm'. I was wondering all the time, geeez, why name this ep 'Grace', what's the deal. The thing si that plot twists are not so obvious as in the first season. The stories are better thought out, and that runaway story was great. Has FOX seen these eps before cancelling them?

Warning! This page contains spoilers for the last episode. If you want to check what I said down in the post just strictly keep your eyes (like me) on the top of the page...
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/gofuton.cgi?action=listings&id=20050408fox15
I'm not sure if this means something but futoncritic listed 'Twas A Night Before Christmas... Again as season finale, not series...
I hope this is a ray of light for Tru's salvation...
