Post subject:  American Idol Prediction Contest
This is an American Idol Prediction Contest that I have made up. I think I made the point values for everything fair, but if you have better ideas for point values, I can change them before the first voting results episode to better the game. Here's an overview: There is an overall prediction contest and a weekly prediction contest. Your overall prediction contest ballot should be posted IN THIS THREAD, and discussion/chat can go in here as well. The weekly prediction contest will occur weekly, so you will post your predictions each week in the WEEKLY PREDICTION CONTEST THREAD in this TV forum, which is for those predictions ONLY. Please follow those guidelines. Here we go:

OVERALL PREDICTION CONTEST (DEADLINE FOR FULL PREDICTIONS: 7:30 PM EST, WEDNESDAY MARCH 23, 2005)
-- NOTE: COMPLETELY ignore week 1 of American Idol when making these predictions (poor Lindsey...)

#1. List the top 11 contestants in order of when they will be voted off the show, starting with the winner to the first voted off.

Ex.

1. Nadia

Your choice 11 means next voted out on the show, or "11th place". Then choice 10 means 10th place, voted out the week after your choice #11, and so on. Choice #1 is your predicted winner.

- 5 points per correct choice

#2. List the 5 people who you think have the best chance of winning the competition, in order from most likely to least likely. Do the same for the 5 people you think have the best chance of getting 2nd, and again for 3rd. Every list may overlap, or may have the same people in different order, or you may strategize, whatever. It may seem stupid to do 2nd and 3rd, when your second choice for 1st place would arguably be said to be your choice for 2nd place, but not always. Sometimes you may think a person either makes it all the way or gets voted out earlier. Anyways, this leaves it open and allows for some strategy to come into play.

1. Will a Celine Dion song be sung by a contestant in the competition?
2. Will Mark Vasquez ever make a guest appearance on any of the episodes?
3. Will there be more girls or more boys in the FINAL 3?

WEEKLY PREDICTION CONTEST (PREDICTIONS EACH WEEK DUE AT 7:30 PM EST BEFORE THE RESULTS SHOW)

Each week you will predict the following before the next "voting results espisode":
(each week your predictions go in the Weekly Prediction Contest Thread, here: http://www.worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5588 )

A) What do you predict, at this point, will win the whole competition? (This may be the same each week or change every week or just certain weeks. Totally your choice, depending on your own opinion, and if your choice is voted out.)
- 5 points in first week, then decreases 1 point in value every two weeks

B) Who will be voted out this week?
- 2 points each week

So, for example, before the next voting results episode, you will predict who you think will win the competition at this point and who will be voted out that episode (you're likely to do this AFTER the singing episode the night before the results episode). Then after that episode you will do the same thing the next week, predicting who you think will be voted out next and again, who you think will win (which may or may not have changed because of the previous episodes).

I might be a little slow, but this is really hard to figure out. I'm not sure what the other thread is for exactly? Are these completely separate contests or are both tied together?

Okay, I'll try to explain this. Everything in the first part, the "overall predictions" part are questions that are to be predicted for the whole show overall, and these are all due BEFORE the next results episode, which I set as 7:30 PM EST before the next episode on Wednesday. Got that? All the questions asked seem pretty straightforward. So, people can fill a ballot out, just as you did now, and post predictions before the deadline. These are then set, and nothing is changed with these. At the end of the show, we'll know how everything went, and I can mark all of the predictions.

The second part, the "weekly prediction" contest is something that continues weekly throughout the whole season of the show. Each week, before the results episode, people will post their predictions for who they think will win it at this point, and who they think will be voted out that episode. People will do this about 11 times, since there are I think 11 weeks left on the show. That is what the other thread is for. It is for people to post those two predictions each week (who they think will win the competition at this point, and who they think will be voted out that particular week). It's easier for me to keep track of these that way, if I designate one thread to just those weekly predictions.

Anything else? If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. By the way, you don't need to specify what Celine Dion is sung, the question just asks whether someone will end up singing a Celine Dion song at all during the competition. So, your answer is either YES or NO. And in question #2, please specify which list if for 1st place, which is for 2nd, and which is for 3rd, so there are no discrepencies.

Yes, you may. I would definately presume that everyone would want to watch the singing episode first and THEN make predict who will be voted out that week. As long as the predictions are both in before the results episode. So to answer your questions simply: YES. ;)

I'm going to accept anything up until the results show, only because I want to give more time for people to post their ballots. So, you can watch the performance episode and then edit your ballot if you wish. A final ballot is due at 7:30 PM EST on Wednesday, which is a half-hour before the results show is aired. It cannot be changed after that time.

And then there is the weekly predictions! It's going to be fun.

Taking some risky predictions, but I don't want to fall into the obvious sort of set that people have been predicting, because I don't think one episode is completely indicative of the show. A lot of performers that start out rusty, make it VERY far. This will likely change after I see tonight's performance show, or it may not. Since the season has come to a close, I figured I'd give this thread a bump to see how we all did. Well it isn't looking too good for me, at least I got the Celine tie breaker question correct, just never thought Anthony would be the one to prove me right.

It doesn't look like I did that bad. I got the final 2 correct, #'s 3, 4 and 5 correct, and also all 3 tie-breakers.
