CBS should be concerned with Joan of Arcadia. Its ratings have slipped alarmingly this season. In fact, a 5.2/9 is a record-low for the show. On the other hand, the ABC comedies seem to be staying steady or improving. |

I wish Numbers would get moved to a better night, it would probably be a bigger hit. Can't they switch it with one of the 150 CSI series? |

What is Numbers about? |

It's a crime drama whose twist is it focuses on a math professor who brings a scientific approach to helping his brother solve crimes. Think of it as Monk except instead of obsessive-compulsive, the guy is brilliant, but similarly "out there". That sounds dry but the main appeal is the great cast, the former lead from Northern Exposure is the anchor of the show, the main solid guy, playing an FBI agent. His brother the prof is played by an actor who I don't know his name but he's very good, this guy is going places. And their father is played by Judd Hirsch who is always likeable and fun even as an old guy. It's not perfect, but it has a solid foundation and great cast and I think it will evolve and get smoother like all good shows do. Just as CSI benefits from Bruckheimer being producer, Numbers has Ridley and Tony Scott as producers so the show has nice production values and a professional feel. It's not my favorite show by any means but as cop shows go I like it. |

After ditching the dead weight of Complete Savages, it looks like the night is staying pretty steady for ABC. Not the best ratings by any means, but it's pretty darn good. |
