Well out of all those shows I just watch: Alias, One Tree Hill, Desperate Housewives, Smallville, Joan Of Arcadia, Lost, and The OC. I agree with most of the ratings. However, I hope Smallville can rank higher in the upcoming weeks. |

Friends is the only show on that list no longer on the air, it doesn't fit. Should take it off the list, I suggest. |

You said you wanted comments...Oh and nothing below a 6, I may love Television way too much but even I have standards: Jack & Bobby - 10/10 My favourite show on television, smart, engaging, emotional all with great acting and excellent pacing. There's characters to root for, characters to root against. Situations that make you think, situations that make you mad, this show has everything. Even a funky documentary in the future style of telling it, what's not to love? So Grace wasn't exactly lovable in the first few episodes, and Bobby can get aggrevating with his percieved perfection but the characters are changing. Grace isn't the Bobby-centric person she was in the pilot, Bobby isn't the oblivious little brother either, and Jack he just got mugged (for what I'm assuming is like 12 bucks) and that has to change someone. The WB has a winner, but unfortunately its only me and the actors' families watching. The O.C - 9.5/10 The "it" show of last year has become one of my favourites of this year. After a couple episodes trying to find its Sophmore legs it seems to finally be getting back the quality of earlier season 1 episodes, Ryan just needs some angst back, Summer and Seth need to get back together and Marissa needs to go away - when that comes the show will be even better. The Amazing Race - 9.0/10 The best reality tv show out there, and has been for quite a while. This series seems to have gone a bit astray with casting, with Jonathan and Victoria and Kendra but tried to make up for them with Kris and Jon, Gus and Hera, Don and MJ and Lena and Kristy. Unfortunately apparently nice people aren't good racers so now all but Kris and Jon are gone. Even with the uneven breakdown of good/evil teams at present, the legs themselves are always fun to watch - aside from the bunching. Great host, great locales, great challenges, great show. 24 - 9.0/10 The first season is probably my favourite single season of any hour long drama. Ever. It had everything I wanted, well I didn't really want Amnesia but the spectacular positives of Kidnappings, bombings, assassinations and moles outweigh it. Couple that along with one of the most surprising moments in TV - IMHO.. "Where's my dad?" and S1 is a winner. S2 had a lot of rough moments, and many predictables ones too, but all the stuff with Jack was still gold and thankfully he is the star of the show. Season 3 started out like Season 2, very rough but once they got to the hotel it really picked up and made up for that whole Kim/Chase + Baby "Romance". Desperate Housewives - 9.0/10 A fine show, with a great ensemble cast who gel together really nicely. With moments of lightness and moments of darkness all rolled up into one ball of excellent television. Lynette needs a new story line, Gabrielle needs some sort of conscience and Susan needs to stop having the mentality of a 12 year old, other than that this show is fanatastic, Marcia Cross especially. The West Wing - 9.0/10 If any show on my list has experienced a resurgence this season. It's TWW. It's not TWW of S1-3, not as witty or as serious without being preachy, but in season 6 there have been some interesting changes. CJ as COS works really well and now that John Spencer is seemingly back in it more it could get really really good. Not sure about having Donna and Josh in opposing camps and not sure how they will work with so many characters, but given their track record this season I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Alias - 9.0/10 After a third season that almost made me lose confidence in the drama, the fourth season premiere restored most of that. At it's height it was action packed, mysterious, suspenseful and intriguing. Now after a brief fall from grace it looks to be restoring many of those qualities, if not to a smaller degree than before. Lost - 8.5/10 Series started out really strongly, but as it progressed a couple of the characters are getting overexposed. Those would be the characters I have the least interest in (Jack and Kate). The mystery of the island is still very fascinating, but lately they have been building up other weaker elements of the show at its own expense. Two and Half Men - 8.5/10 The show should have just stuck to whole numbers, or maybe they just need to recast the kid - because he is annoying and rarely funny. Actually now that I think of it, it probably runs in the family because Allen isn't that funny either, Charlie makes the show - and he makes it quite hilarious. Arrested Development - 8.5/10 It may not be everybody style of humour, but it is definitely mine. Every episode there a couple of laugh out loud moments, who knew someone from the Hogan family could have a great show later in life. Life IS such a sweet insanity, the more you learn the less you know. Law and Order:SVU - 8.0/10 It's Law and Order! But without the suck! Sure it has Casey, but lately she hasn't been given much to do and the stories, while sometimes disturbing and graphic, are interesting and more original than that of the flagship show. The Apprentice - 8.0/10 Oh how I had high hopes for the second season. The first was very well done, with interesting, competent contestants and rational firings. The second season saw Trump throw rational out the window. 'Everyone says your crazy, so you're fired.' 'You aren't yelling quite as well as these two - so you're gone.' 'You don't have a college education, so you're fired and you have too much education - so you're fired.' I'll give the third a chance but only because nothing else I like is on. Wickedly Perfect - 7.5/10 One of the funniest reality shows on the air, allbeit probably pretty unintentionally. Who is going to be the next Martha? I could care less who wins because I won't be buying any books from the victor, but if the first episode of show is any indication I will be laughing from start to finish. ER - 7.5/10 I still think this is one of NBC's worth watching shows. Sure most of the original cast has left or get smushed by a helicopter, but it's still for the most part interesting - well save for Ray, he's an ass. Las Vegas - 7.5/10 I liked Danny and Mary together, and they had to go screw with that. Since that ended I found myself not really interested in the show. Sure Danny, Mike and Ed are interesting characters - but the others? All I know about them is they work at the casino in some capacity and one of them always likes the musical guest of the week. Which is also annoying, it's like the writers can't fill 44 minutes of show, so they devote 5 of them to a special musical performance. This show I think gets the boot from my schedule this monday as 24 starts up, Raymond and 2.5men are on CBS and some show is on ABC....not that I would watch that ABC show or anything......No...Never. ![]() The Simpsons - 7.5/10 I'm being way too generous here (if we are supposed to give more weight to current season) because for the past 5.5-6 years this show has really gone downhill. That said seasons 3-9 remain some of, if not the best television has seen in a half hour show, and even though it's taken a turn for the worse I still watch it every week - mostly out of habit. Law and Order - 7.5/10 It seems like every damn story is ripped from the headlines this season, maybe Dick Wolf is spread too thin. I still watch for Jack, Det. Greene and the LT, but the rest can go - I long for the old days with....well pretty much anyone but Serena, those were good days. Survivor - 7.0/10 I was one of its biggest fans in it's infancy. Survivor 2 has remained one of my favourite reality seasons ever. Probably because at that point most people knew about the game and how to play it in one form or another and it was new. Now people strategy at every turn, and it's all stuff we've seen before. Nothing is really new or exciting, and it has just gotten stagnant in its old age. Will and Grace - 6.0/10 I think I remember a point where this show was pretty damn funny, now they fill the 22 minutes with the guest star of the week. There really hasn't been any changes in the characters either. They still are the same people who haven't learned from their experiences. Smallville - 6/10 The Powers That Be seem intent on pushing Kristin Kreuk as the second lead of the show, you would think when they decided that to make stories that involve her be interesting, but nope. You would also think that TPTB would ensure that the male and female leads that are supposed to have feelings for one another at various times would have chemistry, nope strike two. You would also think that the person who figures heavily in the future of the "hero" would have a prominent role in the entire series but Lex doesn't. Strike three. It was worth watching for the first season and a bit, but now... CSI: Miami - 6.0/10 Eliminate one cast member from the show and it would probably get a 9, because its really an interesting show. David Caruso and his spooky way of talking makes the show close to unwatchable. I know its probably just me - but there is something about his voice and tone that makes parts where he is on unbearable. Everybody Loves Raymond - 6.0/10 This season Ray has become a total asshat and Marie remains the spawn of Satan, I could tolerate one hate-able character on this "comedy" but two? No thankyou If we can include shows that are off the air this list would be massive, with The Wonder Years, Farscape and Seinfeld all getting very high marks, but I'll just stick with current. |

Enterprise- 3/10, cancel it already. Desperate Housewives - 9/10, pretty good soap, benefits greatly from being a change from the macho posturing of t.v. cops and the chaos of reality shows. It's like a blast from the past in a good sense. Alias - 8/10 stumbling restart, hopefully will improve CSI - 5/10 I'll never understand why this junk is popular. Totally unrealistic and bad acting. The West Wing - 2/10, I avoid it but see it sometimes. Lost - 9.5/10, only thing that keeps it from 10 is occaisional new agey moments. I had a hard time getting into this show at first but it has gotten much better as it has gone along. Scrubs - 5/10 no idea why this is even on the air. The Simpsons - 5/10 a classic in its time, but it is past it's time. Boston Legal - 7/10 an odd show, overall it is not that great but it has some enjoyable moments and very high production values. Shatner is surprisingly believable in his bizarre role and the show does benefit from top notch production values that make it watchable even as you sit there thinking man this could be so much better if they tried. Law & Order: SVU - 5/10 used to watch this but I just dont like it anymore, it's too gloomy and full of its own sense of importance. ER - 5/10 cancel it already, jeez. Las Vegas - 3/10 desperate attempt to feel cool and relevant. Doesn't work. Law and Order - 5/10 I used to love this show but it needs to be put out of its misery. Survivor - 6/10 Don't like it much, but better than most reality shows. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - 7.5/10 pretty good, the most watchable reality show currently on. CSI: Miami - 3/10 laughably bad macho posturing mixed with unrealistic forensic work. Everybody Loves Raymond - 6/10, this show has had a great run but this season they seem so grim and miserable. I think the show lost its steam when Robert got married. Two and Half Men - 8.5/10 the only fun, watchable sitcom these days. It is basically a redoing of the odd couple, but it works, helped by a great supporting cast of women, including the horrifyingly realistic Conchata Farrel. The episode with Elvis Costello, Sean Penn and Harry Dean Stanton as Charlie's support group was surreally funny and fascinating to see them all together. And the kid is pretty good, he's free from typical hollywood kid acting. Other shows not on the list: The Daily Show - 8.5/10 best late night comedy/interview show. |
