 Saturday Night Live is garbage
The show that launched the careers of the likes of Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, among many others has morphed into garbage. It's lucky to garner more than two to three laughs per episode now. Last week's ep. with John Heder was just dreadful, not helped by the fact that Heder cannot read cue cards, or so it seems. He fumbled line after line, it was rather pathetic.
What are your thoughts regarding the current state of SNL?

I thought it has sucked since around mid 90s. Basically once the Meyers/Carvey era ended it went downhill and hasn't recovered. Part of the problem for the show is that we live in such an anything goes era that it's hard to have a show that is based around shock value. But also it's that they dont have any super dynamic performers like meyers, carvey, murphy who have an overabundance of energy and a lot of ideas.

The Jon Heder episode was pretty godawful, I must say.
Amy Poehler seems like practically the only humorous thing happening on the show. Tina Fey's on maternity leave (isn't Maya Rudolph, as well?) and Rachel Dratch doesn't seem to be appearing that much. I think the women are all funnier than the men at the moment.

Yup; wish we had the NEW snl here in the UK; they show the really old shit at obscene times and its dull. But i definately think Poehler/Fey/Rudolph are the best crew in it right now.
Although i never really did get "Debbie Downer" apart from the rest of the cast trying their best to not laugh.

I agree 100%, and that's the biggest reason I think the show is very mediocre. Not sure if that has anything to do with Tina Fey being the head writer, but the guys on the show are not funny, and I see none of them breaking out like Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler or any of the past guys have done. It reminds me a bit of what it was like after the original cast left, except the show doesn't have an Eddie Murphy to carry it.

SNL had a bump in creativity during the 2000-01 season that lasted about a year or so. But since then, yep, downhill.

The days of Myers/Carvey/Hartman/Spade were so damn good. Season 29 was probably the lowest point I've seen of the show in a while. Last season was only a bit better, but this season is daring its own self to be worse than Season 29. The Heder episode was horrible. I couldn't even finish it past Horatio butchering Weekend Update and the dumb funeral sketch.

Last season was only a bit better because of the election.

Seth Myers is pretty good from the men, but noone else. And I disagree about Rachel Dratch, I think shes completley terrible. Like worse than Horatio terrible.

The show is not that good this season. They better pick it up. Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph need to get back to work they are hilarious. The first two episodes sucked, plus next weekend they aren't airing a new episode. They're airing "The Best of David Spade".

I agree, the women are the best. I just crack up when Maya Rudolph is on screen. When she did Donatella Versace that time, i think I pissed my pants. She deserves the break out.
Good to see Amy Pohler making a name for herself. She too is hillarious.
I must say the news team is too American or unfunny sometimes for me to get why the audience is laughing. For anyone who has watched Rove Live in Australia you will understand. Its terrible.
