Alias news: Rachel Nichols, Season 4 boxset , Future?
Apparently Garner is going to "mentor" her when she gets too heavily pregnant and Nichols will task action
I think its a bad idea; Garner is the appeal of the show.
They should just do 8 episodes with her pregnant - then resume filming when shes ready next spring.
Please keep this season 4/5 plot spoiler free and even though this may concern casting of actors in the future; do not drop any clangers about character plot point

I don't know why this would garner its own thread when we just had a new ALIAS thread all about Season 5 updates and changes and cast additions, deletions!
I'm also not too crazy for the idea, but if they write it well into the show, it could work. But if they're blatantly doing it just to cover the pregnancy, then I dunno... this show is going down the drain!

They could have handled this all differently. But you know what; every time Alias announces some drastic new change i always worry - and it always turns out to be awesome.
So i wont sell my ABC shares quite yet.

It sounds like Garner came back to the series on the condition that they get rid of Maestro and find someone less pretty who won't overshadow her.
Can someone find a pic of this new girl and post it? I'm sure there must be some on the Alias fan sites.

I found 2 Rachel Nichols on google. I'm not sure which one is her.
Anyway, there goes my theory in my previous post, obviously I was wrong.

That's obviously a manniquen or however the fuck it's spelled.
Anyway, her name sounds familiar but I can't place it or where she is from by seeing her pictures.
Oh wait, I just got it. Rachel Nichols from ESPN. Not the same person, but she has nice fiery red hair, I like her!

First off, I don't know why you mentioned me in particular
Second, you want this to remain spoiler-free?? The whole idea of this thread is a spoiler in itself.
Third, do you have any sources that claim Season 5 will most probably see more Lena Olin??

Well there is some good news concerning Mia. Some fans of hers went to watch her performance at a play in NY and mangaged to chat with her. She mentioned-SPOILERS HIGHLIGHT: That she would be in 4-6 eps this year. Not sure if it will be concrete or not. She starts to film Posidian on Monday so not sure if she will be in the premier .

Spoiler response:
This sounds to me like they won't be able to find a cure for her? I hope so. I thought it would have been a cooler ending to Season 4 to kill her off.

Response to Spoiler Response: I totally agree. I hate it when shows can't seem to bring themselves to get rid os some characters even though though realize they bring the show down and in this case, would have made the finale, as well as the 4 year long prophecy more effective and concluding. If she's saying she's gonna be in 4-6 eps this season, then obviously, it's going to be among the first half of the season, since they're probably still in writing process for the rest of the season. Looks to me that they are probably going to send her off somehwere.

MEGA SPOILER - HIGHLIGHT AWAY
Who is Leaving Alias and CSI: NY? Source: TV Guide August 3, 2005
SPOILERS AHEAD! - Click back now if you don't want to know a thing.
TV Guide has answered fans' questions about their favorite shows and the answers include two shockers for hit dramas Alias and CSI: NY. With both Rachel Nichols and Élodie Bouchez joining ABC's Alias, another cast member will be saying goodbye.
The magazine says that Greg Grunberg, who plays Eric Weiss and has made appearances in almost all of J.J. Abrams' shows (Felicity, Lost), is leaving. "It's just time for me to go," he says. "Doing [the J.J. Abrams-produced drama pilot] 'The Catch' felt so right and, although it didn't get picked up, it really gave me the itch to do something where I have a larger role. I'm going to miss everyone on 'Alias' so much, but I think it's the right move for me right now." Grunberg adds that he's "weighing a couple great [TV] things right now" that would reunite him with his first love: comedy. As for how Alias producers plan to deal with Weiss' impending exit, Grunberg promises that "it will be dramatic."
ABC president Steve McPherson added that it's 80 percent likely that this will be the show's last season. He also said that despite her pregnancy, Jennifer Garner will appear in every episode this season - even if that means producing fewer episodes. Finally, McPherson expects her maternity leave will result in a longer-than-usual winter hiatus, with the show going off the air at the end of November and returning sometime in March or early April.

I'm actually surprised he stayed this long (with such nothing plot points given to his character). Wasn't there news a couple years ago that he would be leaving for his own show?
I don't like that 80 percent news, though...

I would say that it's "wishful thinking" on his part that Alias does poorly this season, so he can focus on the bigger hits of the network. Here's hoping the show proves him wrong this season.

ABC has released an official synopsis: Highlight to read
"After they [Sydney and Vaughn] both survive the car crash, she learns that the man she has known as Michael Vaughn is under investigation and suspected of being a double agent. She questions whether their business and personal relationship over the years had all been a lie. When Sydney discovers that she is pregnant with Vaughn's baby, she is determined to uncover the truth about him.
Meanwhile, because of Jack's past betrayal by Irina, he begins to worry that his daughter may suffer the same fate as he did. He will also have to deal with the fact that he will soon become a grandfather - while still learning how to be a dad. Sloane will have to do some soul-searching of his own, as he makes an unholy alliance in his desperate fight to find a cure for Nadia - who is still in a coma. New agents will be introduced and a nefarious organization will come to light in Sydney's life as she fights to protect her unborn child -- all the while traveling incognito, outsmarting the bad guys and keeping the world safe."

Loyal... I think you should make your previous post only visible by highlighting (white font) or else we'll see Micheal on the 10:00 news.
So much info right now....
(Highlight to read, for it's major spoilers)
On Greg Grunberg... I hope they don't over-dramatize his exit (probably a death) because in the past the writers have consistently shows that they don't have alot of interest to make him a major character. His biggest part came in Season 4, with him dating Nadia. I hope they kill him off in something Vaughn-related... whcih makes Vaughn look really bad as though he sacrificed his friend for his cover or something of that sort.
On the Vaughn storyline... I think this is shaping up to be an excellent premise if they do it right. IT better not be another false plotline like Vaugh searching for his father. I'm starting to get really psyched and excited for this now.
On new cast-members... I hope we get a villain with a story arc. It seems interesting enough, thsi new casting, and I hope it provides a great new direction finally moving away from Rambaldi. As for the the new agent cast... I think it is solely because of Sydney's lack of action due to her pregnancy; otherwise, they never would have cast someone else. So I hope they write her in real well and don't just introduce her and make it obvious she's there for one reason only. Could be interesting to make a twist midway in the season that she's actually working with Vaughn or something and they have some type of relationship.
On the rest of the storylines and wishful thinking... Overall, I'm actually (surprsingly) liking the direction Season 5 is heading towards. With Weiss gone, I'm hoping they can concentrate more character and screentime with Marshal, I hope hop hope sooooo much!!! Weiss and Nadia nwo in the background and eventually gone is a total plus for me (I hope they kill both of them off, it would make really good storylines and improve the show's mobility). I also like what I'm hearing about Sloane... he won't necessarily be in the forfront I gather, but an interesting side-plot. the Syd-Vaugh-baby plot could really get good. I'm getting really hyped (which I know I shouldn't be). After my lackluster response and reaction to Season 4, I thought I'd never get really "into" ALIAS anymore but there are many promising angles coming this season and it ALLL depends on the writing, how well it's all woven into and executed.
On the future of the show and that 80%... I think we can almost guarantee now that it is going to be ALIAS' last season. First I was content with the show ending since it was following a path I though was diverted from the show I originally fell in love with. But if my expectations for Season 5 are met, then I will be totally bummed. I'm not holding much hope for a 6th season, because if the execs are saying it's most probably over, tgen it's more than over. IT finally justifies the move to Thursdays at 8pm. Without a new episode of LOST, ALIAS garnered around 7-9 million viewers last season. Without LOST at all and against tougher competition (in the first half of the season at least) I could see it's viewership plummit to around 6 million viewers. Hopefully if NBC's 8-9pm line up starts dipping in the ratings (against their STILL high hopes for Joey) it could do okay.... than again, The O.C. does indeed pose a bit of a competition. If it can pull of secnd place in its timeslot even if only for the 18-49 demo, then I think it would be a success and there might be a small chance for a comeback next season, but it could easily fall to 4th in the important commercial demo. And as far as talk fo that extra long hiatus.... Well, I'm not happy with it all.... that will be almost as large as a summer break. IF that will indeed be the case, I hope they turn the year into two mini-season with a big cliffhanger to hold us over till it comes back in April.

I was just watching a few eps from Season 2 and it just reminded me of how brilliant the show used to be.
I think the past 2 seasons of ALIAS have not been bad, actually good, but I've posted endless times that it has deviated from the core, or its original blueprint, which is what I fell in love with. Seeing these few amazing episodes clarifies all that: ALIAS used to be a show about espionage, spy, and femme fatales; soon the plots starting revolving around that world. But ALIAS as of late has been more of a action genre family drama with that ALIAS WORLD in the background or just complimenting/adding to the forfront issues.
I loved all the family stuff; I truly did. The first 2 seasons were full of it. JAck trying to build a relationship with his daughter, a mother attempting to make ammends all the while scheming either to the good or the bad, no one knew at the time. But see, back then all those issued were dealt with a great in the field of action in the world of espionage and aliases.
Nowadays that world is there just to accomodate the original fans and look stylish.
I still think ALIAS is a good show, at times, great. Among the crop that I wactch now (however lighly or heavy a compliment you want to make that). But if the show continued on the strength that was present in seasons 1 and 2, this show could really have been somthing more, something to truly note in television history.
