Aren't delays common for anime? These delays are not only from animation department, it sometimes happens because of broadcasting schedule as well.

Delays are common but some delays are disappointing like one of my fav anime "Date a Live VI" getting delayed to 2022, which was originally planned to release on October 2021.

Looks like the Kimetsu game did far less than many here would have expected considering the various records it broke in other media. According to Famitsu it sold 115,036 retail, 94,849 on PS4 and 20,187 on PS5, in it's first week in Japan. For comparison a port of a 7 year old game, Pikmin 3, sold 171,349 in it's first week last year.

Like what Corpse analyzed and looking at the hardware sales, this result is inevitable. Switch is more popular than PS4/PS5 these days. Sony Computer Entertainment cannot catch up with Nintendo.

From this website https://www.famitsu.com/ranking/game-sales/, my rough calculation without adding sales tax: 7,600 Yen x 115,036 copies= 874,273,600 Yen.

It's more to do with the game being sub par than anything else. The game has a pretty negative word of mouth in Japan and the developer also has a pretty bad reputation in Japan mainly due to a Jojo game they made previously.

Every media doesn't work out. I think it can not compete with the games of Pokemon. That negative WOM is a problem now. But, I still don't have a PS5 due to my promise.

Even on Switch, in the end, this is an anime game. There's a pretty large gap between a video game and anime game in the market. It would never do the numbers of the video game giants in the market regardless of its status in other mediums due to very limited appeal in the video game market.

Older adults and seniors aren't likely to go out and buy the game to play on their PS4/PS5 they likely don't even own. And children/teens mostly have a Switch, so they weren't even given the opportunity to buy it (assuming their parents would; a game is much higher than a book or DVD, etc.). Its appeal would have been to a very specific age group (presumably high-school/college-aged students and younger adults around 30) among those that own a PS4/PS5. A video game purchase on a specific console isn't the same as buying a book, CD, DVD, etc.

All that said... selling 115,036 copies in its first week is still fairly impressive. I don't know what ever anime game has sold, but that seems to be pretty high to me when just counting them. Of course, many were also released on Switch (like One Piece Pirate Warriors 4), so it won't be able to match them in total sales at the moment, I don't believe. But a Switch port is pretty likely, I'd say.

(Should have just delayed the game another year to improve it and get a Switch version ready for retail at launch though.)

The game is still locked at 30 FPS even on PS5, so I don't think that it will be released to Switch anytime soon.
It still has a chance to well though, the Naruto Storm games which this is heavily based on sold around 5-7 times more outside of Japan, though it will be to a lesser extent because Naruto at that time was far more popular worldwide than Kimetsu is now.

To be honest, I doubt the final result of the recapping Mugen Train as TV adaptation. People begin to lose interests in the anime. Moreover, Shirogane should be switched as the OP song instead of Akeboshi. I guess the decision to recap the arc as episodes came later when Fuji TV heavily involved.

So the first half of this season is really just Mugen Train split into several parts? Seems like that would hurt the momentum. Weird. I was gonna wait till all the episodes were up anyways, but were I a week to week viewer this would be disappointing.

The first episode though was original (filler). I'm assuming the next 6 episodes would wind up Mugen Train part, including the final/after fight sequence. Yes it's frustrating as a weekly viewer to just get what I have already seen few times by now.

No offense to die-hard fans because its fun to for them to rewatch the arc again but people like Flava and myself watch a LOT OF content weekly so getting something repeat when not actively seeking is frustrating.

Shipped not sold, in Japan the sell through rate seems to be around 60-80% for PS4 and around 40% for PS5 which is pretty average to say the least. For comparison Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 sold 1.3 million copies in 4 days.

Corrected. PS5 supply are very low. In fact, some of the store are taking back PS4 units to rebuild them as PS5 so the game got sold more in PS4. Now, the problem is developer is looking for 60 FPS only for Xbox X and PS5. Other than that input delays are common problems within the game. Yet the expected game to arrive on Switch so I haven't brought the game. Other wise, I will wait until my PS5.
