OMG. Screw you for that dumbass cliffhanger that the show will forever be ended on, Nashville. Goodbye.

I don't watch this show but it seems shitty of them not to air the ending that would give fans closure but instead go with the cliffhanger ending. They're THAT confident someone will rescue the show.

I'm watching the finale now but I already read about what the producers pulled and I agree that it's bullshit. Since they had apparently filmed an alternate ending in case it was cancelled it makes no sense that they wouldn't air that. I don't think this is coming back either since both Connie and Hayden seem beyond done with it and Connie has refused to film in Tennessee due to the anti-gay regulations going on in the state.

That cliffhanger was so half-assed. If Juliette and Avery had gotten back together as planned it wouldn't have been a bad finale.

It is shitty, honestly.

As much as I love Connie Britton, Rayna wasn't the best part of Nashville. Hayden Panettiere and the character of Juliette were. And to end the show with that ridiculous cliffhanger is just insulting.

I have serious doubts anyone else is going to pick up the show for a fifth season, so Lionsgate trying to force people's hands with this cliffhanger baiting is just aggravating.

And, as TC said, even if someone does pick it up for a new season, would their leads Connie and Hayden even come back?

On the bright side, we (probably) never have to see The Adventures of Maddie, World's Most Obnoxious and Horrifyingly Bratty Teenager, again.

Yeah, Connie is obviously amazing but deserved such better material than the show gave her for years. She's what brought me to the show and Hayden's performance is a big reason I stuck with it - she was really fantastic and I loved her growth over the past few years. I think it is a testament to how much she brought to the show that the episodes she missed this season and last were some of the most painful.

Also, this is a show that has struggled to make a deal with ABC for years due to its budget which is why renewals have always come down to the wire. The only way I could see this coming back in any form is if Hulu orders a wrap-up movie or something like that, because Hulu owns the digital syndication rights and it would make sense for them and their subscriber base to get an ending. It will never go to a network like CMT - they simply won't be able to afford it.

The only ones really supporting this #BringBackNashville movement are the supporting players like Clare Bowen, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Chris Carmack and Aubrey Peeples. I think it's super telling that Connie has not posted anything about it coming back on her social media once and even went on "Seth Meyers" saying it was done.

But yes, thank the lord if I never have to see Maddie again.

Not to mention that Hayden's personal problems (I believe she just checked into rehab for continued treatment of postpartum depression again) make it unlikely she would return anyway.

In other words, I guess we can just assume Juliette Barnes is in plane crash purgatory with the Lost castaways until the end of time.

ABC rarely gives their shows proper endings. They're probably the network most likely to cancel a long running show in the last minute and not allow for the proper ending. Though if I understand they have filmed a proper ending, they just didn't air it? Well it will probably come out on DVD if it doesn't get picked up. At least there is one.

Yeah, they had filmed a proper ending and decided not to use it where the plane that was "missing" in the cliffhanger landed and the characters of Juliette and Avery were reunited.

Lionsgate seems pretty confident someone else is going to pick this up.

There are supposedly "four or five different platforms" interested.

Apparently it is a dual-play deal in conjunction with Hulu, and a renewal announcement is expected at the CMT Awards tomorrow.

If I were Connie's agent I would be trying to get her out of this IMMEDIATELY. It is mortifying to think of Connie Britton on a fucking CMT original series.

Well, it's official.

http://deadline.com/2016/06/nashville-p ... 201769711/

It's for 22 episodes too and will stream on Hulu the next day. God help us all :funny:

I'll continue watching as long as Connie and Hayden are still on because I hate myself :P I thought I was free!

Connie has to be leaving right? She has been very open about being done with it and done like talk show appearances, etc. And Hayden's in rehab. I just feel like something's off. The only ones who seem to be excited about it coming back are the flop supporting members.

Connie Britton, Hayden Panettierre, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Maisy Stella (UGH) and Lennon Stella have been confirmed as the series regulars for season 5.

I was hoping and praying they'd downgrade Maddie to a recurring with the switch. Her plotline last season was torture.

Good for them for keeping Chris Carmack though - a ton of people were worried with the network switch and his gay storyline he'd be let go.

I am SHOCKED Connie AND Hayden are both staying. They must either have ironclad contracts or have negotiated the hell out of this deal.

I seriously doubt I would have watched the new season without Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere returning, but it's kind of sad they're still not free of the show.

The new season premieres January 5th.

Also...

Connie Britton is probably leaving the show after 10 episodes. Hayden's on board for all 22.

OMG I just thought of some awful scenario where her daughters became the new leads of this show.

Maybe I can just watch the Hayden scenes on YouTube after Connie leaves because I can't take a show with only the side characters left.
