I find the BSG ending massively depressing lately. I have watched it multiple times and each time lately I just cry because none of them get remembered. They contribute to the Earth gene pool and thats it and even then some don't. Adama and Roslin despite all the sacrifice get forgotten and their effort means nothing in the end. Its just one of the most tragic show endings I have ever seen.
And what of Hera? She dies as a young adult? So all the 12 colony survivors end up with short painful lives?
I agree, not a happy ending. They all lost too much along the way... people, way of life, history. Bill, Lee, Chief especially. Chief going off alone and his overall arc was the saddest to me. He lost his soul. I also thought D'Anna staying on Earth 1 was one of the underrated great sad moments in the show
I'm surprised there was any confusion about the Kara/Harbinger of Death thing, both here and on the net. Seemed pretty clear to me finding the 2nd Earth = the end of the Kobal/Caprica brand of humanity, history and way of life. Kara brought them to their necessary and deserved end. Ultimately for the Caprica humans Earth ends up a graveyard/retirement home for a few decades. They all (including Galactica itself) eventually pull a Starbuck in her last scene... their job is done, so they disappear. That's why I think their new home feels depressing
The one thing that's stuck with me in the finale is why they'd show us kind of random scenes like Roslin sleeping with a student, Bill struggling to retire and Gaius being a turd to his dad. I suppose it's to show the restlessness with their positions even before the attack. Thse are people who were always meant to do something as big comendeering the human race... before the attack and on Earth they didn't fit
As for Hera. I suppose if things got primitive, she wouldn't make it for the long haul. Especially if they weren't immune or aware of the cure to a lot of Earth's diseases yet
