Ironically, the best thing they could have done is changing the structure so that it's not 24 episodes. There's basically no filler at all this season.

I'm loving the new, condensed format as well.

Monday's episode was another great one, the scene with President Heller and Audrey was really touching. I didn't think it would end like that either.

Also, Jack calling Simone a bitch was great - surprising it made it on the air though.

Classic Jack was all over this episode. It would verge on self-parody how much this one character can do in one real-time hour if it wasn't Jack Bauer.

I keep wanting someone from the past to resurface but then I remember they've killed everyone significant off. The downside to so many shocking deaths.

well there is still Mandy. I guess Logan is still alive. He was said to be in a coma, he could be in some hospital bed somewhere. There is Alan Wilson from season 7 and Max from season 2 neither character's fates got resolved.

Great episode

Luckily I didn't realize that was Cheng in the credits so his appearance was a shock. The show is firing on all cylinders. Hope it doesn't disappoint in its final two (fourteen?) hours.

I also like that they're playing to the diehard fans now with Cheng. For the most part, this has been self-contained for non-fans to enjoy but you need to be a fan to really get Cheng and why his history is important.

Last night's episode was great, thought Chloe was dead for a bit.

The finale looks insane, it appears President Heller has some type of heart attack - and someone does die by the shot of the casket covered in an American flag.

I'm worried it's either: Audrey, Kate or Jack.

I feel like the show has always teased killing off Jack, but with the way producers have promised this is the end of 24, I fear it could happen, now more than ever.

Season 5 or 6, I would have been fine. Now, he's beyond death. You just can't kill Jack Bauer. Can you?

Oh nooooo. There's gotta be another season, right? Such a downbeat ending. Jack hands himself over to the Russians. Audrey's dead. Kate feels responsible. So many feelings.

Yeah there better be another season. My guess is Chole, Kate, and Bellcheck will team up with that old friend that has been teased in the blu-ray promos (my guess is it will be Tony). It could be a great opening and probably lead to some crisis in Russia.

Well that was downbeat, and they definitely set it up for another season so I hope it happens despite the creators being somewhat nonchalant about the whole thing. Regardless though, great and thrilling finale. I was surprised by Audrey's death and Jack with the meat cleaver and samurai sword was badass.

Yvonne Strahovski and Kiefer Sutherland were really great this entire season too performance-wise. They sold their last few moments perfectly.

Under this new format, it would be awesome if this was a 12-episode "event" every Summer. That's probably wishful thinking though.

I would imagine that Fox would rather have it a Spring event where it would get better ratings. It sure couldn't get worse ratings than the dreadful Following for instance.

I have to say that this was one of the best seasons of 24 so far. They really came a long way from the awful sixth season and anything else that's been subpar at best.

As far as Season 10 goes, I'm content with a tragic ending. It feels right for Jack to live but to be held responsible for the way he does things. "I am the only friend you have left" might have been one of the saddest things I've heard on a TV show.

And two silent clocks in one episode. A first?

Man, re-watching that last five minutes is gut-wrenching. Heller's conversation with the prime minister, the slow cut to split-screen, Sean Callery's superb score, then Jack and Chloe's last exchange. Might be the best five minutes of 24. Might sum up 24 perfectly: the tragedy that can befall anyone, including presidents; the sacrifices made; and, of course, the most important relationship on the show: Jack and Chloe.

I can't imagine not seeing 24 again, especially after they created a few strong characters (Belcheck and Kate, definitely) long after it seemed impossible for 24 to create any interesting characters. But it sure serves as a fitting end that Jack sacrificed himself for Chloe.

Too bad this wasn't programmed properly at all. A May start, the bulk of its episodes in the summer (trying to replicate Under the Dome's summer success last year?), airing some of its best episodes after the Emmy deadline. But considering it came four years after its initial end and long, long after its best days, they did really well too.

I loved the mini run of 24. I missed a couple episodes but overall I kept up with it and hope they do another one. It was great and entertaining.

Apparently Freddie Prinze Jr. said that working with Kiefer Sutherland, who he deemed "unprofessional", made him quit show business for the last four years.

Good lord. Jack Bauer is more powerful and awesome than we all thought.
