The second season, in my opinion, is a lot sleepier and less engaging than the first. Or at least so far. The dynamic seems shifted. Perhaps it is too much time devoted to Elizabeth Keen solving crimes without the direct involvement of Red.

I watched ten minutes of the post Super Bowl episode last night before turning it off. This show is awful.

 Re: The Blacklist (NBC)
My only real interest in this show is whether or not Red is Lizzie's father.

Wait, they haven't said that he is? I've only watched the pilot and it's clear that he is.

Though, he could have meant that since he didn't raise her, he didn't consider himself her father. A recent episode did showcase how hurt Red was by Lizzie's rejection. Which clearly pointed to him being her father. They also made it clear, via burn marks on his back, that he was with Lizzie the night of the fire, and he is likely the one who pulled her out of there. Regardless, the show is really dragging this out. Which is getting annoying. It would be nice if they would reveal the truth to the audience, at least. Then it would just be a matter of when/if Lizzie found out.

 Re: The Blacklist (NBC)
This series has mostly lost me. I still truly love James Spader's performance as Red, but it has stretched its central mysteries extremely thin, and the procedural stories are a bore and very repetitive.

I agree, the plot-of-the-week, procedural shows (not just this one), tend to be pretty disposable and unmemorable. I like NCIS because of the main characters, but the plot-of-the-week tends to be boring. Magnum P.I. had the same problem. Magnum, Higgins, Rick, TC, etc. were great main characters. The best episodes were when he interacted with them the most and the worst were where he didn't interact with them, much at all (NCIS is the same way). Overall, Quantum Leap had better, more meaningful plot-of-the-week stories than Magnum or NCIS. Regardless, this show, The Blacklist, needs to be less plot-of-the-week and more long-term story arc. Though, the central mystery has gone on long enough.

 Re: The Blacklist (NBC)
The episode of this last night was hilariously bad and strange. They seriously aired a thinly disguised clip show/recap. And revisiting past highlights (fun and over-the-top antagonists, well-shot chase and fight sequences) only served to remind how adrift and unexciting the series is now.
Such a downer. I remember being so excited by this series: Spader one-liners, the promise of Tom Clancy-style world building, etc. It has gone sideways so badly.
