Re: ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Thread
Quote: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was hyped up all summer as arguably THE most anticipated new series to debut this Fall. However, it started strong on ABC last night, with an early set of numbers (courtesy of The Wrap) indicating that it had an extremely impressive 4.9 rating/15 in the key 18-49 demographic. When it comes to total viewership though, "Another set of numbers, measuring 56 Nielsen markets, suggested 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' wouldn’t be able to touch 'The Blacklist'." Ultimately, that really doesn't matter. While it would have been a good for The Avengers spin-off to boast that they'd had the highest ratings debut for a new series, these numbers are more than enough to ensure that it's here to say providing they remain steady in the coming weeks.

Re: ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Thread
This pilot was way too boring. And I thought using the Extremis again so soo after IM3 was not such a clever idea. The episode felt really redundant in the Marvel universe.
Also bringing back Coulson felt really desperate. And how is Cobie Smulders going to be in two shows? Is she going to be some kind of guest star on S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Re: ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Thread
To me it felt like some kind of a leftover subplot from IM3. And I wasn't a fan of Extremis/IM3 story at all to begin with.

Cobie Smulders is only, for now, slated to appear in the pilot of S.H.I.E.L.D. I believe. She did say the HIMYM people are very cooperative, though, so I'm sure she'll be back at some point soon.

Re: ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Thread
She was easily the best part of the pilot other than Clark Gregg. The rest of the actors were so meh (I'll hold off on saying that about Ming-Na - she had nothing to do in the pilot).

Re: ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Thread
I hear they claim his death was a ruse concocted by Fury to motivate the Avengers to unite as a team, and he went into hiding for a while after the events of the film to maintain the illusion.

Re: ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Thread
Something like that. He was dead for like 8 seconds or so before being brought back to life and then he had been somewhere where he was doing rehab. But Cobie's character and another character (I really didn't care for most of the episode what was going on, so excuse me for not knowing ANY character's name) had a little talk about how that might not be the truth despite agent Coulson believing it.

People who have read the comics, with SHIELD in them, have theorized that..... Coulson is a Life Model Decoy. Apparently, SHIELD uses them a lot in the comics. It's a way for Coulson to be dead (or vegetative) and still have the actor playing the part. They did show Coulson dodging the van door which supports the android theory. I was somewhat disappointed with the episode. It wasn't as funny or amusing as I hoped it would be. I did like Coulson giving Ward the truth serum in order to win over Skye and the fake out at the end with J. August Richards' character.

Liked the second episode much more than the premiere. Also... NICK FURY, that opens the door for the rest of the Avengers to make cameos, especially Hawkeye cuz ya know... he's useless.

Re: ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Thread
Screw the haters. This episode is getting better by the episode.
Some poeple forget Buffy didn't become an awesome show ever until the Surprise/Innocence two parter and fully exploded with "Passion" and THEN it went into the one of the all time greats territory.

Except Buffy was kinda great in its first season from the pilot in a guilty pleasure way. Later on it just became perfect. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s pilot kinda sucked. And the second episode was even worse. I don't see any potential in this show.
