 Re: Boardwalk Empire
Im still kind of bored by the show even though I watched the whole season last year. Gillian is still a whore freak who has the hots for her son. More Van Alden makes the show more interesting

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
I basically agree. The show is trying to do too much and not really succeeding; every time they cut to Chicago I lose interest. Van Alden's definitely the best part so far.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
Van Alden does steal the show - but I don't find it boring at all. Perhaps the Chicago storyline is moving too slowly - but it looks like the Chicago scenes will pay off as Capone heads off to NJ.
The ratings for the first episode weren't all that great - a little below the season finale. Hopefully it will pick up or there may not be a 3rd season.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
This is the best series on television. Great, rich storytelling, not afraid to go at its own pace, populated with an array of compelling characters, etc. Getting to submerge oneself in this world every week is just pure pleasure.

What a dark episode...very powerful.
I'm sorry, but I can't sympathize with the people who say this show leaves them cold. Best hour of TV going. Leaves even shows as good/great as Game of Thrones, Homeland, The Walking Dead, Boss, True Blood, and Sherlock in the dust. Just on a whole other level.

I'm a Game of Thrones nut (more so the books) but this is superior. Absolutely brilliant TV - best thing on at the moment. Very powerful episode - inf act the between this and the last one - has a few "are they going where I think they are..." moments. Crazy.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
Season 2 definitely got better as it went along. Killing all the Darmodys like that was just brutal. Gretchen Mol will be seducing her grandson soon enough.
Van Alden remains the most interesting character though. I hope they stick with him while he's on the run.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
I actually find Van Alden less interesting this season than last. This season it was all about the rise and fall of Darmody and it was a damn fine story.
One thing that will be interesting is that Van Alden found himself at Cicero Il, the hometown of one Al Capone. With a 5 year gap between seasons 2 and 3 - I'm sure the Al Capone angle will be pursued.

Now that's a season opener! Great start to what looks like another great season. Extremely happy this is back.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
I guess I'm the only one watching this season. Season finale is coming up but it's been another fantastic season. Setup for the finale was perfect even if a little predictable.

No, I watch it. It is my favorite series. The most recent episode was phenomenal.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
I watch it, but I usually wait until the season's over to catch up. Too much other stuff to watch while it's airing.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
Watching the whole season after its done is more enjoyable agreed. I just couldn't wait.
Season 3 is now wrapped up and what a finale. Wont give away any spoilers but it certainly was full on in every respect. Perhaps I liked the 2nd last episode a little more but brilliant ending to another great season.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
I've just finished watching season 2 and I have a question to those who already watched S3... Jimmy was pretty much my favorite character and I liked his storylines the most. I thought they ended his character pretty well but I'm a bit scared that the show won't work as good anymore for me without him. Am I wrong?

Unless you only watched it for Jimmy - keep watching. Jimmy had to die and his character ended perfectly. That said I was sad to see him go and didnt expect much from Season 3. But Season 3 was a revelation and perhaps the best season yet. Plenty of other characters to enjoy including Harrow, Chalky, Capone, Van Alden, Rothstein, Luciano, Owen, Jimmy's mother and a new Italian gangster. Nucky is also more interesting than in previous seasons.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
Thanks for the answer. Sounds awesome. Especially the Nucky part. I was a bit disapointed to see that he's actually one of the characters I'm not that interested in.
Without spoiling something.. How big are Van Alden/Capone/Harrow in the third season? I want to see more of them.

They couldn't have Harrow kill Nucky. And it's true he was in love with Angela. Though I get the feeling down the track he may still go after Nucky.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
Just finished Season 3 and it was pretty damn great at times. Bobby Cannavale was awesome and really deserved that Emmy. I did miss Jimmy a lot. He and Nucky felt a lot like Jesse/Walt to me.
Harrow is still the most fascinating character. How he took down all those bastards at the end of the season was perfect.

And it's a damn shame they killed of Nucky's love interest. What a sweet girl. They should have get rid of Macdonald, not her.

 Re: Boardwalk Empire
The most recent episode. This series is so grim this season. Still fantastic as usual, of course. They are not using Jeffrey Wright nearly as much as they did Bobby Cannavale.
