I taped SNL, and watched up to Weekend Update. I really am finding it hard to watch. The botox sketch was pretty good, but the rest has been pretty bad. The Michael Jackson opening wasn't really funny, the monologue was a bit lop-sided, the plate sketch is just another SNL sketch where only Horatio Sanz thinks it's funny... and Debbie Downer... it's time to give it up, already. It was funny once, because Rachel kept laughing. If she didn't break character that one time, this would not have been a recurring character. And Weekend Update... meh, I liked this pairing of Amy and Tina at first, but it seems they don't even take it seriously at all. Jimmy Fallon of all people took it more seriously. I'll try and watch the rest later.

On a plus note, David Spade will be returning for the first time as host of SNL. Only took 8 or 9 years to come back, but better late than never.

Edit: Should do my homework. David Spade hosted in Season 24 (six years ago), so this is his second shot at hosting since leaving the cast in Season 21.

I don't know, I think Tina and Amy work very well together, and quite frankly, "Weekend Update" is probably the wittiest part of the show.

50 Cent was pretty good last night. Except I didn't get that guy who was onstage yelling in his ear like some ghetto-thug-turned-army-instructor during "Disco Inferno." I kept expecting 50 to punch him in the face.

Weekend Update is the wittiest part of the show, but every single Update contains two or three instances where Tina and Amy just seem to laugh at each other or something. I think it might have been better if Tina went solo after Jimmy left.

Not a big fan of SNL under the leadership of Tina Fey. It's just not that funny.

Tonight, there's a special on about the first 5 years that I'll be watching. That SNL brings back great memories for me, as I was just a kid at the time, and it was my first experience with getting to stay up late. Since Bill Murray came to the show after Chevy Chase left, I've considered him the funniest guy in the history of our race. The Jim Carreys and Mike Myers of the world are pretenders, and Will Ferrell isn't even that.

Tonight is a must watch, I think, with Will Ferrell returning to host.

I hope they resurrect some of his awesome sketches (Celebrity Jeopardy, for example) for tonight.

Wow and isn't this crazy on how he is hosting as he has a new movie opening.

I guess after finishing the movie he had a free weekend and nothing better to do.

Um, people traditionally host SNL to promote movies, shows, etc.

This is nothing new.

Whoa, I forgot about this thread. Thanks for the bump and host/musical guest change, Libs. Will Ferrell should be great.

It's been great so far, with the Musical Guest being the only disappointing part (but even then, Will Ferrell was cracking me up in the tight jeans and afro wig ;)).

I wasn't really in to SNL until the hilarious 2000 Presidential Special, so I missed on most of Ferrell's years. Still, there's a noticeable difference between this week (without Jimmy Fallon, Tracy Morgan, and Chris Kattan) than even last year's episodes.

I don't know why I always watch this when I don't go out on a Saturday, but I always do. I've been reminded why I just think Will Ferrell is overrated. His best sketches were the cheerleaders and the music couple.

I know why Will seemed a little bummed out last night. When he was hosting, he knew that his new movie was getting it's butt kicked by a chick flick headlined by J-Lo. #-o

It made four million less, not exactly getting it's butt kicked. And I bet money K&S will end up with more total than MIL.

Ehhhh, don't know about that. Kicking & Screaming has to face stronger competition in the next 2 weeks than Monster-in-Law does.

It was odd watching SNL last night, it was actually funny. Celebrity Jeopardy was just awesome. Jap Anus Relations, that's gold!

You bet money? :-k

When movies like Sith, The Longest Yard, and Madagascar are sucking the very audience away that Kicking and Screaming is going after, what chick flicks will be doing that to Monster-in-Law?

Season finale tonight. I'm almost dreading watching it. Not just because I don't laugh much at the show anymore, but because Lindsay Lohan is hosting, and I don't care for her new skeleton-like look. I never knew what the big deal about her was until I saw her in the Santa suit in Mean Girls, and her appeal was that she wasn't overly thin.

BTW...backtothefuture is probably glad mercy was shown on him, and nobody bet him any money. (see above)

Last night I watched the season finale of SNL and it pretty much sucked. They didn't even have a Debbie Downer skit, which I figured they would since Lohan hosted last year's finale too and that was when they introduced the character of Debbie Downer, and it was easily the best Debbie Downer skit yet. It probably always will be. I can't believe they didn't do another one since Lindsay was back! Overall the finale was nothing special and it had a lot of skits that weren't that great. Very disappointing!

And they couldn't even play any HIGH TENSION TV spots during it to make up for it.

It really wasn't that bad, there were some hilarious skits. It could've been better though. And Lindsay Lohan looked unbearable to look at, she just looks disgusting.
