arrested development sucks so hard. Another show that people seem to like is American Dad and I absolutely hate it. Worst show ever to be produced.

Alias is a show, no matter how much abc try to make it otherwise, that you need to have watched from DAY ONE.
Every episode too - otherwise it gets confusing and absurd really quickly unless you have been following the arc.
Always loathed Raymond ; but the tv shows ive never "got" were Nip/tuck, Six Feet Under, The West Wing and The Sopranos.
Whilst im not really a fan of 24, having watched some episodes every now and then i admire the craft and can see why it has a following.

People like American Dad? Where the hell was I when this happened? To be fair, it has steadily improved to the point where it's at the quality of the new Family Guy episodes. Of course, that's not terribly high.
I used to like ALIAS. I can no longer stomach it.
Any and all CSI's are worthless to me. Most procedurals, to be honest. But especially those.

Friends was a show that I loved and watched religiously, but lost interest (and respect) as soon as Monica and Chandler hooked up. It definitely jumped the shark when they decided to do that.
Will and Grace wouldn't be as bad if it was watched with the sound turned down. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

Oh how different we are. That's when I thought the show was actually at its best, and I like how they actually ended up STAYING together when the most predictable thing would have been for them to split up. And then went downhill when Rachel got pregnent.
It's funny when watching the reruns of older episodes before Monica and Chandler hooked up, because there are a lot of moments between the two that start me to thinking "Hmm... maybe they actually had this planned out pretty early in the show's run."

Yea, I own all the seasons (Minus 9 and 10) and there are some scenes early on that seem like it was planned. Maybe it wasn't, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Actually i think they had planned Monica and Joey to hook up pretty early; but then realised that the chemistry wouldnt work at all.

American Dad has gotten better, and I find I'm at the point where I look forward to it more than the new Family Guy. Maybe both will be even better with the new set of episodes coming up, but who knows?

I still think it's kind of unfair to judge a show having only seen two or three episodes of it. It takes time to connect with characters, story arcs, etc. Heck, if I'd bailed on every show I wasn't terribly impressed with upon first viewing, I wouldn't still be watching Alias, Scrubs, Family Guy, etc. That's not to say you can't know you won't like a show after having seen it once: I saw an episode of the inexplicable Yes, Dear once and laughed zero times. I don't need to watch it 5 more times to know I won't laugh 5 more times. I just think if, say, you tune into ER this season and don't like it, it may be because you lack the connection those who've been watching the show for 10 years have (that's me!).
Having said THAT, though...
I've never really understood the love for Seinfeld. Never been a religious watcher of the show, but I have watched lots of repeats and always found some of the situations on the show funny but never really any of the writing. Not to anger the militant Seinfeld fans, though: I do not doubt that if I backtracked and watched the show on DVD starting with season one that I'd probably refute saying that I didn't find it funny. Again, it's all about how familiar you are with a show's characters, etc., and honestly, I'm not that familiar with Seinfeld's.
And although I do like the show and haven't - nor plan to - miss an episode, I do agree with Zings that Desperate Housewives is overrated. Funny? Sure. Entertaining? Hugely. But there are about 10 shows currently on the air that I'd place above it that deserve its ratings more than it does.

Yes, Dear is one of those utterly baffling shows that has somehow managed to survive for five or six years. The writing and acting in the show is so bad that, at first glance, it looks like a production put on by mentally retarded toddlers.
I commend you to find a worse show on network television. It is impossible.

King of the Hill has to be one of the best cartoons ever created. I own all the box sets to date and revisit them more then my family guy or simpsons box set.

Brilliantly stated.
But so many sitcoms are of that same "Christ this sucks, I can't believe it's still on and people watch it" variety. According To Jim, Rodney, Still Standing, etc. I'd argue that According To Jim is maybe even slightly worse than our beloved Yes, Dear. Maybe not. Let's just call it a painful draw.

The Dead Zone's pretty bad. I'm not sure if that many people "love" it, but it does get good ratings by USA's standards.

Yes, Dear is the worst show on ABC, NBC, CBS or FOX but if we can include Netlets like The WB and UPN, I can do it: 7th Heaven

I would have to say that King of the Hill during its prime is one of the most underrated shows in recent memory. The writing and humor were all character-driven and some of that stuff is absolutely hilarious, but you wouldn't get it unless you'd really given the show a chance.

The Dead Zone is an OK show. The problem with it is that it takes too much cliche plots. They turn out good, but the show has so much potential and can be much better. I've only seen two seasons. The first one was Vision-of-the-week (like Smallville's monster-of-the-week first season), and they introduced a longer arc story at the end. But they dragged it thorugh the second season too much, and at the end there was an awful episode with Johnny catching Osama. It was plain stupid. But the last episode was nice. I really hope they stop with those vision-of-the-week eps because tha story about Apocalypse is much more interesting...

Agreed, but I think you're being too generous. There's so much potential for a cutting edge show here, but the writers play it safe at every opportunity.

I don't like any of the above popular shows.
Just take out South Park (which I love) and replace it with Sex and the City and I agree on all of the above.

Theres sure a handful of shows that I hate that some of the zombies love in this forum. Like Rusty mentioned, Arrested Development and American Dad are just two of them. I would like to throw in Family Guy which is as funny as getting a root canel. It should of stayed canceled till some DragonBall Z fans started buying those dvds reviving the show. Friends is another show I hated and am glad thats it gone, Alias is another one that felt like nothing but a 60 min music video
To sum up here is the full list of shows I hate that are popular
Arrested Development
Friends
Survivor
American Idol
Family Guy
American Dad
Alias
Will and Grace
