So this Carrie girl won. I saw it in the news. Was that the Lee-Ann Rymes look-alike?

Yep, that's her. Unles you are a country music fan and watch CMT or listen to the country radio stations, I doubt you will see much of her anymore.

Does anyone know the name of the song sung by Vonzell and Billy Preston? I remember hearing it before.

So what kind of numbers do you guys think Carrie's record will debut at?? As the trend of Idol winners keeps falling, I'm going to guess it will debut around 220,000 copies. That would be an all time low for an Idol winner falling below Fantasia's 240,000 debut, Ruben's 416.500, Kelly's 297,000, and the highest real winner of Clay's 613,000 debut.

That depends on how well this single does, and how well a future single does. If it does good, I could see 400,000+. She has a huge fanbase.

The Dirk and David Hassolhoff thing was quite possibly -- in my humble opinion -- the funniest moment in primetime this year.

400K is a lot! and i dont think she can do that much, Kelly Clarkson had a Huge fanbase too and her single did extremely well! it made the biggest single-week leap to No. 1 in the history of Billboard's Hot 100 (#52 to #1) in her 2nd week of release

Did anyone else think overall that was a better finale than previous years? I did, even though it was dragged out. That "Crimetime Live" thing was hilarious!

I agree. Although the discovery that Simon is having an affair with himself didn't live up to the sight of Paula dancing to Randy's mangled rapping

Actually, come to think of it, I'm going to miss Paula this summer

I'm considering watching next season (Is it really going to be that long of a wait?) , but Simon's attitude will determine if I keep watching. He turned me off the show once already.

But I think this year has been more hyped that the first year, just like season 2 (The extremely close finale). I assume that is why Ruben and Clay did so well. Carrie has a bigger fanbase than Ruben, I would say, because he was in the bottom 2 at least once. Maybe 400,000 is too much, but it will do good.

OKay what I did, was take all the Semi Final contestants, and by using my memory I cut down all the songs to 34. I then listened to all 34 MP3s (GOD GIVE ME A LIFE), and chopped 14 of the 34,

LEAVING ME WITH:

RYANS (HOPEFULLY) ANNUAL TOP 20 PERFORMANCES OF THE YEAR

20. What a Wonderful World- Anwar Robinson
One of the first GREAT performances of the year. The notes that Anwar hit were amazing, and this was the first time in a while that someone actually turned a song into "their own".

19. Against All Odds- Scott Savol
Okay Scott sucked AFTER this performance. But his glasses throwing, clothe stripping, emotion-filled performance of this classic gave him a spot in my top 20.

18. MacArthur Park- Carrie Underwood
Carrie makes her first of many appearances on this chart. Although I like the Richard Harris version better, her strong upbeat rendition of the Donna Summer version was great, and a joy to listen to on MP3.

17. Incomplete- Nikko Smith
I hated the song, LOVED the performance. Although I thought the sorta sharp beggining could have used some work, when he got into the bridge, the song roared like a tiger.

16.Stand By Me-Bo Bice
I admit it. This wasn't Bo's BEST performance, but it was more of a choice for Bo doing a GREAT rendition of one of my favorite songs. I think he took a risk with it, as this wasn't his style, but that's just BO..and thats just GREAT!

15. I Believe I can Fly- Anwar Robinson
This was, in my opinion, the most challenging and refreshing song Anwar did. For once, rather then it sounding all sappy, and droopy as most of his songs did, he sung this song with true emotion, and you really felt the impact when listening to the MP3.

14. I Surrender- Anthony Federov
Godd, if this man could get any more gay he would be Rupaul. Im sorry but I Surrender? YES ladies and gentlemen. Take another listen at the MP3, and listen to a truly difficult vocal, with, from my memory, a decent performance. But truly, Anthony took on a difficult vocal and did it with ease.

13. Drift Away- Bo Bice
From what I remember, this was Bo's first performance in the Semi-Finals. This is where I truly got a first impression of what Bo was. The vocal was nice, Stage presence was excellent and it was just a great song choice that fitted his voice perfectly.

12. Total Eclipse of the Heart- Jessica Sierra
I dont know where the whole "You have the best voice in this competition" thing came from, I personally feel that Carrie and Vonzell run circles around her BUT ANYWAYS....This performance was really great. This would have placed in the top 10 if Jessica hit more of those power notes. It was a powerful performance, but felt really held back in the MP3.

11. You Dont Have to say you Love me- Nadia Turner
This is probably one of Nadia's strongest performances. Her "vocal incapabilities" were not shown in this performance, the song fitted her to the last strand of her afro! It was a great vocal, and great emotion expressed through out the strong. But just as with Jessica, she would have placed in the top 10 if she put more POWER into the song.

10. Georgia on my Mind- Nikko Smith
I'd say this was probably one of the RISKIEST songs any of these "Usher"-wannabes has ever pulled off. I mean sure he got voted off after he sung the song, but the vocal was right now, the emotion was there, and I bet if the late, great, Ray Charles heard it, he would have had Nikko on HIS mind.

9. I'll Never Love this way Again- Vonzell Solomon
It wasn't the BEST song Baby V coulda have chosen, but she made it work to her favor. It was a great rendition of what was already done by Anwar earlier in the year. She hit the high notes, and put alot of the "SHA BANG" in the whole performance.

8. I Have Nothing- Vonzell Solomon
She could have used this song in the Top 3. This was probably Baby V's riskiest choice by taking on Whitney, but she nailed it, and it payed off. AFter this performance she was established as a contender for the Finals. The MP3 is a great listen.

7. Inside your Heaven-Carrie Underwood
This was the song that gave Ms.Underwood herself the win. Truly an amazing vocal. And probably the most emotion I saw from her through out the whole year. She really hit the power notes, and she made a "Copper" song sound like "Gold".

6. Bohemian Rhapsody- Constatine Maroulis
I ECKED when I learned he was doing this song. All I kept saying was HE'S GONNA TURN A CLASSIC INTO A ORGASM! But he did justice to the song. For the first time in a while, his vocals sounded normal, his stage presence was...if not scary....star like, and overall, one of the best performances of that night.

5.Could've Been- Carrie Underwood
Her first song during the semifinal. I remember watching this, and just remembering how shocked I was to see this short, skinny farm girl with such pipes. It really gave her a GREAT first impression that immediately put her as front runner to win the competition.

4.Vehicle- Bo Bice
I liked the song the FIRST time he performed it. It was ROCK HARD, true to his roots, and just fitted him so well. One of Bo's greatest performances, although I think it was the wrong choice to sing during the finals.

3.Lets Here it for the Boy- Vonzell Solomon
Randy probably said that Vonzell had the "perfect vocal" a bajillion times. But I felt this was the one time he was correct. WHen listening to the MP3, her vocals were SPOT ON, she had a up beat tempo, the performance was great, and it really introduced THE VONZ to America for the first time.

2. In a Dream- Bo Bice
Were you expecting this to be number 1? Ehh, I think it got overhyped for being a cappela. It was a terrific performance, and a HUGE risk that payed off. But just because it was a capella doesnt mean he deserves all this credit for being such a good contender blah blah blah. Cause honestly, anyone coul dhave done it, and anyone could have gotten away with it. Bo just did it first. But apart from that, it was emotional, and a greatly appreciated risk.

AND
THE
NUMBER ONE
PERFORMANCE
OF THE YEAR

IS:

1. Alone- Carrie Underwood
I truly did not expect the best "Rock" performance this year to go to Carrie Underwood. But her rendition of this Heart classic was truly the most vocally challenging, emotional filled performance of the year. If I never listened to the MP3, and did it by memory, this would have probably fallen to number 5, but after taking another listen, this was truly THE MOST AMAZING performance this year.
MAD PROPS!...haha.

#1 PERFORMANCES FOR PAST 4 SEASONS
Season1. Kelly Clarkson- You Make me Feel like a Natural Woman
Season2. Clay Aiken- Bridge over Trouble Waters
Season3. TIE: Fantasia Borrino- Summertime/ Diana Degarmo-Dont Cry Outloud
Season4. Carrie Underwood-Alone

VERY nice list Ryan! i agree with most of them, especially with the #1 song, although you forgot one and i think its one of the best Bo Bice performances: "For the Love of Money"
that one was so great it put a smile on my face!!

I agree that Carrie's "Alone" performance may have been the best of the season. Bo's "In a Dream" is also up there, of course. I also loved things that Nadia, Vonzell and Jessica did.

I'm still attempting to figure out why Carrie never sang "Alone" on the finale, but...she still won.
