Yeah, the episode reduction is entirely because of Kerry Washington's pregnancy. I'm sure ABC is annoyed they had to do it.

they should've just wrote Olivia out for the last 4 episodes (ya I know she's the main draw), that would've been fun to see how that would've been handled.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2013-2014 Edition
"Low Winter Sun" was canceled after only one season by AMC but that's no surprise due to terrible ratings despite having a great lead-in with the final 8 episodes of "Breaking Bad"!

Was it really a great lead-in, though? Personally I never saw one moment of Low Winter Sun (not counting the occasional muted internet ad) as all I wanted to do after Breaking Bad was either watch it again, talk about it, or read about it. Since so many others wanted to just do the same perhaps whatever came after was doomed

Survivor has been renewed for two more cycles next year.
Also, the CW's midseason plans: -New drama Star-Crossed will premiere Monday, February 17 at 8 -Hart of Dixie will go on a hiatus in February and then move to Fridays at 9 in March -New drama The 100 will premiere Wednesday, March 19 at 9 -The Tomorrow People will move to Mondays at 9 in March -Beauty and the Beast will go on hiatus in March -Whose Line Is It Anyway? will air Fridays at 8 beginning in February

Anyways, "Dads"' episode order was cut to 19 episodes. The fact that it's not scheduled after February 11 does not bode well for it being renewed. Well, it's a good thing that the show will certainly be cancelled before May of next year! ABC has extended "Shark Tank"'s episode order to 28 episodes. Showtime has renewed "Episodes" for a fourth season even though the third season will not premiere until January 12.

A lot less competition and it has a fairly stable audience to begin with. I'm fairly confident it will get a fourth season. Don't really care about the others, but I'll probably check out "Star Crossed" for Aimee Teegarden.

If The Carrie Diaries can do decent on Fridays I think Hart of Dixie can as well. It will help airing after Whose Line, which has a pretty solid audience.

_axiom wrote: Except Carrie isn't doing decent on Fridays. Like at all. Let's see. Episode 10 of Season 1 did 0.99, Episode 11 did 0.83, episode 12 did 0.87, and the Season 1 finale did 1 Million. This was on a Monday night. I fully expected it to plummet in its move to Friday nights. The fact that it's bested some of those ratings and hasn't lost any of its audience in the move is really impressive. I don't think it's doing horrible at all for a Friday night. It's certainly doing better than Nikita, which I would have expected to have a bigger fan-base. With these ratings I'm thinking The Carrie Diaries gets another 13 episode order. I'm hoping so anyway. Can't say I'm too concerned about it not happening. Online numbers are strong too, which is what got it renewed in the first place. I myself watch it on Hulu Plus.

"The Carrie Diaries" is doing absolutely fine for The CW on Friday nights. Nothing else they try putting there is going to do a lot better. And as Mike says it's huge online.

Supernatural did awesome on Friday. Like triple the demo of Carrie. It can also be argued Carrie was so low rated already there really wasn't much audience to lose anyway. Nikita is not a good comparison. I always felt it relied on its lead-in a lot.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2013-2014 Edition
Carrie doesn't have the following of Supernatural so obviously it wouldn't do as well on Friday nights as that. It's out-performing Beauty & The Beast and that's on Monday nights.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2013-2014 Edition
"Masterchef Junior", Fox's solid-rated Friday Show was renewed for Season 2. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/1 ... Numbers%29"Friends with Better Lives" premieres on Monday, March 31st at 9pm after the one-hour series finale of "How I Met Your Mother", then it moves to 8:30pm on April 7th after a re-run of "The Big Bang Theory". Then, starting from April 14, it will air in same timeslot but a different lead-in, which will be "2 Broke Girls". That will anchor the night at 8pm. I think next season, CBS should shorten its comedy block to one hour on Mondays and actually put a one hour block for Sundays. CBS will have better success with just 1 2-hour comedy block on Thursdays. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/1 ... ve/223743/Thanks to thompsoncory for posting this in another thread, "Hannibal" premieres its second season on Friday, February 28th at 10pm following a new episode of "Grimm". This is an excellent choice because they are both horror shows and I think the new night can boost its chances of getting a third season. http://www.deadline.com/2013/12/nbcs-ha ... eturn-date

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2013-2014 Edition
"Friends With Better Lives" has a HILARIOUS pilot and is tonally very similar to "HIMYM." It's only logical that it was put on Mondays.
I do wonder where/when "Bad Teacher" is going to premiere though.

I'm not surprised. It had a good run, it gained lots of critic approval and lots of awards but it was never big in the ratings.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2013-2014 Edition
I had a feeling it would be Boardwalks last. A shame because its such a great show - but atleast Winter can end it in an appropriate way even though he was hoping for atleast 6 seasons. The golden era of TV drama is winding down it seems.

http://www.deadline.com/2014/01/nbc-mid ... oy-believeUgh, these networks need to STOP all putting comedies that target the same audiences on at the same time on Tuesday nights. That being said, I'm excited for "About A Boy" and hope it does well.

That being said, I'm excited for "About A Boy" and hope it does well. ABC needs to move their Tuesday comedies an hour early to avoid strong competition!

HBO would need to find 3 new replacements within the year to replace True Blood, Boardwalk Empire and Newsroom who end their run.

They'll be fine. They have a ton of projects in development that are shooting or have shot pilots including shows from David Milch, Ryan Murphy and Terrence Winter. And they already have "The Leftovers" picked up to series, and I think they have a lot riding on the success of that one.
