 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
Things are getting heated up. Slumdog Millionaire is getting more and more paranoid and yes, things could get really ugly. I liked that little moment between the personal bodyguard and the daughter.
The Russian boss story is quite compelling. Great job handling the aftermath of the brother's death.
I almost lost it when Renee just started stabbing Vladimir, then shouted "WTF" when she stabbed Jack and yelled "Oh Shit" when Jack threw that knife with perfection. Man, only 24 would do that.
The ending was quite clever.
24 writers, please get rid of the Dana story next week. It's taking out screen time for those who deserve it more and have barely gotten any... like Chloe and Freddy Prince.

They really need to make the show just full of moments like the knife scene and it'll be great. Fuck character development, fuck messages, fuck sub-plots. I want ridiculous awesome action sequences. I sort of agree with you, especially since it's becoming more and more clear that character development is not what the writers do well. In this season, before we even care about the character of Dana, they are already telling us this ridiculous backstory about her. No one cares but they are trying to make us care about the stupid redneck guy coming back to try to ruin her life.

I'm not sure what it was that made even later seasons of 24, like S5, really awesome. But whatever it is, it seems lost.
However, this is still an improvement over S6 and S7.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
Enjoyed this episode.
Jack was an absolute beast as usual escaping from torture. Also, I loved his line to Bazhaev about President Taylor wanting to talk to him.
Looks like Josef has gone rogue and betrayed Pops. I mean, duh. This is 24, so it's not like they'd find the rods in hour 8.
I was very disappointed that the deaths of Redneck DiCaprio and Generic Scuzzy Friend did not occur in this episode. I hope Dana steps up and actually gets rid of them next hour to put us all out of our misery, might go a ways toward redeeming her character. They also might want to try giving Dana and Cole...chemistry? ANY chemistry...something. Because in their brief scene tonight, Katee Sackhoff and Freddie Prinze Jr. had none to speak of.
Renee wasn't in this episode enough but I guess she'll be back more next week judging by the previews.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
Another very good episode. I'm really like this season and it goes well with 2,3, 4.
Lecter- I think the thing is that Season 5 was the first to go truly high concept and 6 was trying to up 5, 7 was great but the strike played significant. Turning this more into 1, 2, or 3 gives the quality back to make season 8 another 5

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
Jack's escape was pure 24 awesomeness. Watching him slide through with a Mini Uzi as Bazhaev blew his precious restaurant with shotgun rounds was a thing of beauty.
Pace is picking up and I seriously hope the Dana story wraps up soon. She's taking too much screen time.
Not a lot of Renee, but this wasn't the episode for that, anyway.

The sub-plot really needs to die though. It's dragging the show down. Well it looks like the awfulness of it will be over now. It'll turn into a different story once she kills them or attempts to and FPJ gets more involved.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
Thrilled Redneck DiCaprio and his goon partner are finally dead. The utter stupidity of Dana/Jenny for actually entertaining the thought of killing them herself was laughable, but luckily we were spared an even worse storyline in which she'd be on the run all season or something. I mean, I know Cole has gone semi "rogue" to protect her, but hopefully they'll give Freddie Prinze Jr. and Katee Sackhoff other things to do this season now.
Hastings sucks. He's not only incompetent but has no backbone. Glad Jack is there to set him straight, and Chloe's there to roll her eyes at everything he says. Also, I hope Renee gets back in the field soon.

Hopefully before Hour 15/16 because that is the next two-hour block for 24.

Agent Owens was the guy in Donkey Punch who performed the titular act. I knew he looked familiar!
I was hoping Jack would break out of CTU and be on the run again. Alas.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
Ah, 24 is really back to same old, same old. A nuclear bomb on American soil...again. Seriously. And the plot thread with DOJ and Renee is annoying too. At elast the Dana/Jenny subplot seems to be wrapping up.
The best thing about this episode was Jack being a badass once again.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
The plot with Renee is bringing Jack and Renee closer, though. Of course, they won't get together 'til season's end and before they actually get to do something, someone will get fucked. Classic 24.

The best thing about this episode was Jack being a badass once again. Well I don't think it could be a true nuke probably more of a dirty bomb. I still don't see this being the main plot since I believe Logan will be involved in that one.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
Thank god that the Dana Walsh storyline is wrapped up...
Wondering if Logan's plot is going to be related to the dirty bomb of if it's going to be it's own thing? I'm guessing the nuke's going to be a moment of opportunity for Logan and his men to kickstart their plan when the coutnry is already weakened. I sort of agree with Lecter though, the nuke on American soul has been done a lot and won't be done as well as George Mason again. Time to move on.

this felt like a vintage episode of 24. action wasn't over the top & the storyline was tense.
next weeks looks pretty intense as well.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
I've been enjoying the slow build up in this season so far, but everything at the hospital in tonight's hour felt like a return to form in terms of action and excitement. I can't wait to see next week with the dude locked in the chamber maybe detonating the bomb, I think Mare Winningham can be counted on to deliver an emotional scene.
Good to see Hastings grow some balls finally. Not enough Renee, I really hope she doesn't get pushed to the side for the rest of the season.
Not very much Dana/Jenny and her stupid problems=good news. Too bad it's still going next week.

 Re: 24: Season 8 Thread
One problem with tonight.
Assuming Jack knew the bomb had been disarmed, why didn't he just rush the man?
I don't believe I saw his hands near any trigger and his gun was empty, yet Jack was approaching him in an extremely cautious manner.
Then the guy jumps out the window and he must have a broken leg cuz he's practically on one foot and Jack can't catch up to him?
Finally, the guy is making a cell phone call from some pressurized chamber. If he's even able to get a signal why isn't CTU monitoring the cell traffic from that zone?
