 The Voice: Season 2
Who watched the premiere?
Early favorite has got to be Tony Lucca, who I actually remember from The Mickey Mouse Club (!). Christina not recognizing him at first was...awkward. lol

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
First time watching was tonight. Anyway, I think Jesse was my favorite tonight. The rocker chick going with Cee Lo kind of made no sense to me. Adam should have been as pissed as he was with that one.

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
Tony Lucca was the best of the night. Female rocker was ok although I don't see her really doing much outside of that area. Jesse had some nice tones but he was a little off pitch here and there, not to mention that I think Elliott Yamin's A Song For You is the greatest American Idol performance of all time. Country girl is nothing special. I thought the opera singer was going to get cut. So glad he got picked, he did great!

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
Just started to watch. They can shove the "based-only-on-the-voice" crap up their ass. The singers go through the preselection. AI had its fair share of not so good looking but pretty good singers. The final mix in The Voice will be just like in the AI - mostly good looking people with good voices and some of the weird people with good voices, just like last season.

Early numbers put the premiere at a 13.3 demo and 30M+ viewers.

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
Tony Lucca sang "Devil Town," which was used to perfection in "Friday Night Lights," so he's my favorite thus far.

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
LOL. It's funny when they "miss" the barely average singer (The Backstreet Boys guy) when they see how he looks and that he could be a chick magnet. LOL. Just goes to show that looks do matter in this show too even though they claim it doesn't. Luckily they couldn't go back.
Some great singers in this ep #2.
EDIT: Why didn't Adam turn on that Lindsay chick? He says he wants unique voices, she was definitely unique.

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
Auditions part 2
The Line - Not great. I heard a lot of flat notes but they are certainly better than Elenowen. (4.5/10). NO.
Jamar Rogers - This guy was impressive. Rock and R&B mixed in. WOW. Cee-Lo definitely lucked out with this one. Technically sound and great energy. Good dynamics as well. I would definitely choose him. (9/10) YES.
Neal Middleton - Wrong song choice. Didn't show any dynamics and was always going full speed. Not much diversity with his voice. (1.5/10) NO.
Gwen Sebastien - I thought she struggled with this song. Breathy and too much imitation for my tastes but she was mostly in tune. (5/10) NO.
Pamela Rose - Was flat and sharp in places. Too nervous and her voice isn't unique. (2/10) NO.
Kim Yarbrough - I'm on the fence with this one. I liked some parts of her voice and didn't like others. Was very good technically. (6/10) No.
Angie Johnson - Tough song to sing but she did it well. It sounded like her voice was going to get drowned out by the music but she sang loud enough that it didn't happen. Really good. Another steal for Cee Lo. (8.5/10) YES.
Dez Duron - His voice kinda sounds like Adam's. I didn't like the song choice but his voice is trainable. He sang it quite well IMO. Really surprised no one took him but I think he'll be back later on. (7/10) YES.
Lindsey Pavao - Sounded like a crappier version of Dia Frampton. Shouty and tried to cover up her off pitch notes with wispy sounds. Don't like her voice either. She was smart to choose Christina after Blake's screwup with Dia last season. (1/10) NO.
Hoja Lopez - Definitely got a unique voice there but was nervous and it showed. (2/10) NO.
Jermaine Paul - WRONG SONG CHOICE. This guy really wants to own the song but it's so bad for his voice. Changes up the song till it's down in the ground and beaten badly. Will probably have problems later on when they criticize that he doesn't keep to the main melody. He's got a voice though. (5/10) NO.
Angel Taylor - I like her voice a lot. It seemed like she was waiting for the chorus to kick in to showcase her stuff. Lower register needs a bit of work but overall it was good. (8.5/10) YES.

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
Watching The Voice right now from Sunday. Right away I'm told how CRAZY DIFFERENT the show is from "all the other singing shows" (Idol) because the judges are turned around. I know it's a minor qualm but they do realize quite a few unattractive people have made it very far on Idol, right? Not to mention it gives the idea that, Hey, if you're fat and ugly, you'll stand a chance with us!
Also, I like that Christina Aguilera is billed as "one of the best voices of all time". Great voice, yes. What's the criteria for "one of the best ever"?
That concludes my criticisms. It is about the talent, after all.

This girl Erin? has this extremely scratchy raspy voice which is being passed off as a singing voice. I'm not buying it and no way would I have turned around.

I was going to get back into Idol this year, should I watch this instead?

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
As if The Voice couldn't be any more fresh and entertaining this season, Cee Lo's cat emerges as the obvious breakout star of 2012. omg. I hate cats and I'm still obsessed with Mr. Purrfect.

 Re: The Voice: Season 2
I really enjoy the building of the team part and the way the contestants audition for the judges and then (if they are lucky) have to choose one of the judges to be on their team. I like how the judges make a short pitch if it's more than 1 of them competing for the same person.
