Maybe Survivor's ratings will convince them to cut the damn show. I never saw the infatuation with it. Infact the only reality show id bother watching any more is Big Brother.

Um, are you insane? It's the highest-rated reality show on TV currently.

Yes, you're right, I forgot about Idol.
Even still, Survivor is the fifth or sixth highest-rated show on TV, period.

What the hell happened to the finale? Thats lower then it's Thursday #'s, I guess thats what happens when you put it up against Desperate Housewives, they shouldve just had the finale on Thursday.

Survivor barely made a dent in the Desperate Housewives viewership.

America's non stop faith in Survivor and other such reality shows amazes me. Its ratings have slid quite significantly from its heyday, but its still doing massiva numbers.
The UK usually goes on a blitz of reality then the show dies off. Big Brother for example is in like its 7th /8th year here and yet its [i]still[i] going on. Its been the only real enduring show . Survivor didn't do all that well here and wasnt renewed, then weve had multiple dodgy reality competition shows and now the craze is celebrity/reality shows like the airing
"Love Island" tonight featuring such "celebrities" as Calum Best, Abi Titmuss and Rebecca Loos. These are fast burning shows that lose the novelty very quickly. Thats reflected in the runs over here but in America reality seems to endure.

They have got to quit putting the Survivor finale on Thursday... I don't get the logic behind it. It would do so much better in it's normal time slot.

The popularity of it is partly due to the dramas sucking. American TV is full of cop shows in which almost all the cops are stalwart defenders of everything good and honest. There's like a dozen cop shows on TV now, full of uncorrupt selfless heroes. Zzzzzzzzz. I believe one reason people watch reality programs is they get a dose of the nastiness that has been edited out of many of the dramas, not counting Lost and DH of course which do it right.

Family Guy 6.3/9 - In the 9-9:30 timeslot, 6.3% of all households (100 million +) are watching Family Guy. 9% of the households who are watching TV are watching Family Guy. That's pretty good. Could get 9-10 million viewers. (The total viewers can't really be determined from the ratings/share)
American Dad 5.6/8 same logic as above. Could get 8-9 million viewers.
Pretty solid and consistent numbers from those shows.

That number is pretty close to what Survivor has been doing all season. I don't think CBS is sweating it.

Yeah, the fanbase of The Family Guy really strikes me as the same fan-base for Desperate Housewives.

I'm siding with Rod on this one. You'd be surprised how many people watch both shows, starting with ME!!
I watch Desperate Housewives and record Family Guy (in fact I just watched Sunday's Family Guy tonight).
Family Guy would EASILY surpass Simpson's were it not up against Housewives.

I agree, I also watch both Family Guy and Housewives by satelite. I think that if they move Family guy in the 8:30 spot it will do much better.
I would make the line up like this
8:00-The Simpsons
8:30-Family Guy
9:00-American Dad
9:30-The Simpsons

Yea, the third highest rated show that night and that will cause them to cut the show. Admittedly, it is not as popular as before, but it is still consistenly in the top five. This show aint going anywhere.
