Post Best DAMN Show NO ONE is watching
Jack & Bobby

I'm sorry but this show deserves at least this other thread aside from the dead one.

After a long hiatus and what seemed to be the dulling of the shows sharp blade of story and social commentary they delivered just an uncalled for astounding hour of television with one of the finest performances I have eer seen from a young actress on TV.

It deals with the best subjects and those that are most relevant to teens today.

It's a crying shame that nobody is watching this show. Just tonight's episode was another incredible hour. Yes, I will admit some parts of the show may be a bit cliche and predictable but it is executed so much better and with so much vitality and love of its subject that it succeeds incredibly well. Its freshness completely overshadows its minor flaws.

Since its return 3 weeks ago, it has been dead last in he weekly ratings with under 2 million viewers.

What I want to know is why you guys think a show like this did not succeed (aside from it being on WB, which should have been a plus since it could have stolen the spotlight for the network)??
And do you guys think it will be renewed??

You know this thread is going to get at maximum three people discussing the show :)

I've been a huge fan of this show since the beginning. Saying that it's my favourite show on television, and that hasn't changed. Sure there are always variations in quality from episode to episod,e but even when they don't have a great episode by the show's own standards, it's terrific in the grand scope of TV. When it really works like in :"The Pilot", "Lost Boys" and "A Child of God" the result is amazing, three best hours of television right there.

I think it actually broke the 2 million mark last week. 2.07 or something very pathetic like that :???: The reason why people aren't watching? I don't know, I guess the simplest one is that they don't like it. Delving deeper, one could point out that it hasn't had the easiest timeslots. Originally, it goes up against Desperate Housewives Sundays at 9, now it's got to deal with American Idol, Alias, TWW/Revelations. Also, its quite a departure from The WB's normal programming. A drama flashing from future to present on how a future president is shaped by the actions of his youth, not exactly 7th Heaven. I'm not sure if its getting any promotion from The WB, because it is the only show of theirs I watch and don't stick around to see if it's getting commercials during One Tree Hill or Everwood.

The renewal is a tough question. If this were ANY other network, it would be 100% no, but since it's The WB and it does garner critical acclaim and the network has sometimes allowed a low rated series to grow an audience in a second year, I'm thinking it's possible. I think we will learn it's fate May 19th when The WB presents it's fall schedule.

Here's a topic on the show at TWoP started by yours truly and there have been some really good discussions regarding the show and its characters.

Oh and yes, Keri Lynn Pratt was damn good tonight, she has been the past couple episodes. It's unfortunate that just when I start really liking her she goes and gets herself flung out of a back of a truck.

My thing is that I want to watch this show, but didn't hear about it until it had already been going for awhile, so I figure I'm just going to rent the DVD to catch up and then hopefully watch the second season, and I bet a lot of people feel the same.

I did watch a few episodes (like two I think). But then Alias came back and...blah. I know it's a great show, just that I like Alias better.

I watched a couple of episodes and it was decent. I like the mom a lot. A lot of people probably don't though and her anti-religious beliefs could keep some away - I myself loved that about her. I could relate. I didn't think the show was anything terribly great though and I so hate the flash-forward interview stuff. I don't want to freakin' know what's going to happen in the future! It ruins it.

I do think The WB will give it another season though. They usually give shows more of a chance than a channel like Fox would. And JACK & BOBBY has potential. I'm sure if they get this out on DVD this summer the second season will grow in viewers (I don't think it would be THAT big, but it could find itself with an average of 3 Million viewers). ONE TREE HILL is up a lot from its first season, and GILMORE GIRLS averages 4.7 Million this season compared to the 4 Million it had last season, and it's even up against AMERICAN IDOL now and that hasn't hurt it any. I think it definitely helped having the show out on DVD and having ABC Family air reruns of the first four seasons. Thank goodness the show picked up in ratings! It's so great!

The great show nobody is watching right now to me would be VERONICA MARS. Great show that deserves way more viewers! But it has a lot of potential to get them, definitely more potential than JACK & BOBBY has. VERONICA MARS is more appealing to more people in my opinion. And they need to release it on DVD this summer. If they do that and air the reruns in order this summer the second season will definitely have an increase in viewers.

Here's why I don't watch it. First off I don't really enjoy watching child actors. And secondly, it is kind of a suburban Bush era assumption that 50 years from now we'll still be led by a white male. More so the first reason than the second.

I also believe the title is hurting it, the title reeks too much of the Kennedy names which creates wrong preconceptions in people's minds - preconceptions that you can't blame the audience for, the producers walked right into that one themselves.. A title like President 53 might have gotten more viewers intrigued, just as one example of many alternate titles.

I actually like the title alot and a little of it does have to do with the fact that it reminds me of the Kennedys, which by no means is a negative on the ratings..... think about and bear with my sterotyping even though I shouldn't and it's not 100% correct...
Alot of teens that most shows try to attract or the young adult audience that viewers want, well most of them would probably never make the Kennedy relation. And those who will are probably more prone to tune in because of that.

And there is only 1 main child actor in the show. The older brother is actually well past 20 years old in real life.

I do think the flash-forwards are a bit pace-upsetting and sometimes were rather boring, but it's a really ambitious idea. They should have used it for a few pivotal episodes, not every single one.

I am fully aware that it won't take much to cancel it and wouldn't be surprised at all, but I also have a gut feeling they will renew it. The timeslot is tough I agree and they could try to fix that too, maybe Mondays or Tuesdays or maybe even Fridays.

My 28-year-old cousin won't watch the show because she thinks it's lame how they obviously named it after the Kennedy's. She finds it rather low of them. It is kind of lame, but it wouldn't stop me from watching the show since I could care less about the Kennedy's ;). I myself think they should have named the characters something else. It's obvious the reason why they are named what they are.

Anyway, I still hope this gets renewed for the fans of it. I know how much it sucks when a show you love gets cancelled. So even if I don't watch it I'm rooting for it to come back.

I would really like to watch it but I doubt it'd understand it if I just started watching it. Hopefully it will be on dvd.

No, not exactly. American Idol is doing HORRIBLE in its timeslot. I dont think its reached over 25 million viewers in a while....I mean...no one is watching it anymore.

And CSI? Good ratings? Last time I checked, the only people who watched that were like 1 or 3 million people. It does HORRIBLE in the ratings. It constantly loses to the apprentice.

Get your facts straight dude.

Wait a second, you mean it's not about the Kennedys? Woooow, I always thought it was since they talked about how "one would end up becoming the President" and all that.

No, that's what everyone thought before the show premiered, then they just said that Jack and Bobby were the names of the modern-day characters. Obviously, that was purposeful, but they're not supposed to be the same people, technically.

This is one of my favorite shows on television! I've watched it since the beginning and LOVE it. It's so well-written and acted and no one is watching :( The WB better give this another season, it's way better than anything else that they have on.
